Exciting News! Ke Kula ʻo Samuel M. Kamakau Surf Club was honored and recognized by the Honolulu City Council for their dedication to perpetuating the Hawaiian sport in 'Ōlelo Hawai'i.
This is the surf teamʻs inaugural year, joining 10 other high school surf clubs on Oʻahu that compete under the Hawaiʻi Surfing Association.
A shout out to the seven talented and dedicated surfers - Ka'iwa Foster, 'Olali Wong, Kanana Kelling, Kaleikoa Cuban, Pi'ilani Hong, Ma'aloa Punua, and Kauhaanui Domingo and their head coach Kaipo'i Kelling, as well as their community makua coaches: Steve Hong and Pekuna Hong.
The Kamakau Surf team competes in three different categories, the papa loloa (longboard) wahine and kane, papa poko (shortboard) wahine and kane, and papa pumai'a (boogie board) mixed team.
