Look. Here's the thing. Kamala Harris is Good, Actually. Really. Look at the stuff she's proposing. If she gets elected and has a Democratic House and Senate, we're going to see another historically productive term. Her policies will materially improve the lives of the vast majority of Americans. They'll make life safer, healthier, and more affordable.
We don't have to talk at all about all the awful things convicted felon and adjudicated rapist Donald Trump would do in a second term. Nationwide bans on abortion, fertility care, and contraception, using the power of the state to silence political opposition, abandoning any kind of climate action, literal ethnic cleansing...we don't have to talk about any of that to show why you (yes, YOU) should vote for Kamala Harris.

Dr. Dan, I really appreciate this comment, but unfortunately many Trump supporters appear confused on where the racism line begins and ends. It's an important topic because I clearly recall Kamala confronting Joe's racial busing policy, but many agree he righted that wrong by fulfilling his promise to choose a woman of color for his VP. I've heard so many republicans say the democrat party is openly racist favoring certain races over others, and was hoping you might clarify their confusion by sharing more insight. Thanks for your time, sir.

@@CreationMyths No, but it does describe your mentions of Republicans and/or Republican states, and it's evident that the point of this video was to dispel the claims that Kamala can't stand alone as a candidate and that people always have to bring up the other side as evidence to vote for her, so you made this video as some sort of proof that those claims are false by not saying Orange Man bad aside from the beginning. However, this video seems to hurt the claim that Kamala supporters can vouch for Kamala without mentioning some boogie man, as you brought up Republicans as a whole as the bad guys instead of just Trump. Additionally, the video prefaces with a bunch of orange man bad talk (you must know that viewer retention sucks on small channels gj) and ends with shameless shilling of only voting Democrat no matter what to get control over the Senate (remember that this was a video about why you should vote for specifically the individual Kamala Harris, not the Democratic Party), which hurts your point even more!! you also are the spitting image of an irl soyjak but thats neither here nor there

Love this pair of videos about the candidates. I’m not baffled that there’s a contest this election because, frankly, self-delusion is a hell of a drug and somehow can carve out the shape of a candidate they like by creatively editing Trump’s words. I’m happy to vote for Harris, and I think you do a good job laying out the case for her. She won’t be perfect, but she’ll be a hell of a lot better than the alternative.

@John.0z
@John.0z 3 ай бұрын
IMHO expecting any political candidate to be perfect is unreasonable. What is much more common is "very good". Unfortunate "very bad" candidates are also common... such as Trump and Vance. That many of the genuinely unsuitable candidates in all elections place this expectation on the other(s) is common. It is a blunt way to diminish an excellent candidate, like Harris. It also has the implication that the accusing candidate usually fends off placing that expectation upon themselves. Getting in first with an accusation is obviously the important tactical element. This is all done without any serious attempt at providing evidence; it is all based on claims... moreover claims made by a second rate politician. Trump just happens to be the worst offender this year, and possibly ever.

@@CreationMyths I'm a registered republican who has been sick of republicans being so diehard for Trump. I have been leaning further to the left and clicked on your video and actually considered watching it while I scrolled through the comments. Seeing this comment here made me stop. The original guy you replied to? Probably grew up with a conservative family or consumed enough conservative media to make their own biases, and spent time viewing and accepting the views of conservative echo chamber content. Why do I think this? Because I did that too. But my own cognitive dissonance made me curious enough to search for less biased content, and found better understanding and less cognitive dissonance by distancing myself from content tailored to my original beliefs. I became disgusted with echo chamber content, like Jordan Peterson, Ben Shapiro, etc. Began to realize just because you can come up with the best comeback that gets applause from those who already agree with you, doesn't mean you're actually right. Back in conservative echo chambers, we would accuse anyone who disagreed with us as being in their own echo chamber. As I've matured and realized I was in one myself, I also realized that not everyone is in an echo chamber. Some are genuinely willing to work through political issues without outright dismissing or being disrespectful to those they disagree with. But they are rare, as the only way to maintain that is to not bring yourself down to the level of those who are in echo chambers. Your reply has brought yourself down to that level, though it's likely you were at this level to begin with. This video was never intended for someone like me. You probably don't care if I watch it or not. It's echochamber content, clear and simple. You may have made some great points in it, but I will never know; If I get curious again about Kamala's policies, I'll look elsewhere. I'm not saying this because I think you care about my view, I'm saying this because I think you (along with so many others) are contributing negatively to the already hellish state of our political landscape. Sadly, neither actually work in practice, and won't until we are completely resource independent, or a profound change occurs in human psychology. An example of an odd issue that they don't do well on, but is used as a nice fancy carrot to entice idiots, is student loan forgiveness or government paying off student debts. Rather than put into policy limits to costs, or more transparency, or trying to push for more work that doesn't require degrees, they dangle the idea of the loans just being taken care of... people don't seem to realize that _someone_ still needs to pay for it, that no one forced the dept upon you... you agreed to it, and that many millions of people make better decisions and go through college without being buried in debt, etc. Don't get me wrong, the Republicans are no better in regards to education... in many ways they are far worse. But the choice between extremes is, quite frankly, horribly annoying. I don't see any way outside of splitting our current 2 party system into 4+ parties would really solve it.

I am glad that this had statements that I can analyze to be true, false or other without any appeal to emotions. Having said that, the comment exchanges below are not great. :/ I'd like to encourage everyone to use rational, logical, peaceful, and kind words, and a more scientific approach in responding to people who seem to disagree, (rather then just telling them to shut up, etc) I'm in none of the states you listed. My vote doesn't seem to "matter" at the president level at least, or even congress (I'm in South Carolina) I'm still going to vote and my vote will be decided upon the data I can find for the people what they have done, but I'm always going to be convinced by a valid & sound argument and/or data. It would be of use to me to have citations of when/where Kamala has tried to put in these polices/ideas into play in the past and/or show that she will do these things once she has the reign to do so. I can only speak for myself, using reason, facts, data and logic are what will change my mind on any given topic. I can only encourage us all to use these things always. I speak to myself as well on this, for I know I can and will make some error and not be as logical as I could otherwise be. Anyway... I look forward to a return to learning about things from you latter after all this political thing is behind us. I hope that nothing I said was seen as an insult and/or did offend in anyway. @@ReasontoDoubt @DeconvertedMan's Comment: "My vote doesn't seem to 'matter'... (I'm in South Carolina)": Potential Logical Issue: Self-Defeating Argument The statement suggests that individual votes might not matter at the presidential or congressional level, implying a lack of influence. However, this is somewhat contradicted by the commitment to vote. If the premise is that a single vote does not matter, the logical consistency of deciding to vote based on data could be questioned. The comment would benefit from clarifying why voting remains worthwhile despite this perceived lack of impact. "I am still going to vote... my vote will be decided upon the data I can find...": Logical Strength: Consistent Rational Approach Despite expressing doubts about the importance of their vote, the user maintains that decisions should be informed by data and logical analysis. This aligns well with the earlier call for rational discourse. "It would be of use to me to have citations of when/where Kamala has tried to put in these policies...": Logical Strength: Evidence-Based Inquiry Requesting specific citations and evidence strengthens the argument by highlighting a focus on verifiable claims. It avoids making decisions based on assumptions or hearsay, maintaining a consistent logical standard. "May lobsters and logic be with you...": Logical Issue: Mixing Informal Tone in a Formal Argument The whimsical and humorous tone contrasts with the earlier call for rational, data-driven discussion. While not a strict logical flaw, it does introduce a shift that could weaken the perceived seriousness of the argument. If the goal is to maintain a rational and scientific tone, introducing humor may lead to confusion or undermine the credibility of the earlier points. @ReasontoDoubt's Comment: "Reason not to vote for Trump: He is a fascist. Reason to vote for Harris: She is not a fascist": Logical Issue: Oversimplification This argument reduces the decision to a single, binary issue without providing a clear rationale. The terms "fascist" and "not fascist" are broad and carry significant emotional weight, but without evidence or explanation, they function more as assertions than logical arguments. This oversimplification risks alienating those who may not already agree, as it does not engage with any counterarguments or nuances in the candidates' policies or behaviors. Logical Issue: Potential Strawman Fallacy Labeling Trump as a "fascist" may create a strawman if the term is not defined or substantiated. This term carries specific political implications, and without evidence to support why Trump fits this definition, the argument appears less robust. For a logical argument, it is essential to define key terms and provide supporting evidence for the claims being made. Logical Issue: Assumptive Premise The comment assumes that everyone agrees on the definitions and implications of "fascist" and "not fascist," which may not be the case. This assumption prevents a logical conversation by not addressing differing perspectives or providing a foundation that everyone can agree upon. If the terms are disputed or interpreted differently, the argument falls apart. @DeconvertedMan: Your comment is grounded in a rational approach, encouraging the use of data, logic, and evidence in discussions. This sets a solid foundation for a reasonable debate. However, there are a couple of potential inconsistencies. On one hand, you express doubts about the significance of your vote, yet you emphasize the importance of voting based on data. If you clarify why voting remains valuable to you despite these doubts (e.g., civic duty, the potential impact of local elections), it would strengthen the overall consistency of your position. Additionally, while the humorous ending adds a personal touch, it may detract from the serious tone you're trying to maintain. @ReasontoDoubt: Your argument is too simplified to be persuasive in a rational discussion. Using terms like "fascist" without explanation or evidence turns the argument into a label rather than a reasoned point. To strengthen your case, consider providing specific examples of actions or policies that support your use of the term. This would help clarify your stance and engage others in a more thoughtful debate. Oversimplified statements can be alienating and fail to convince those who don’t already share your viewpoint. For a logical argument, it’s essential to define terms and back up assertions with clear evidence.

This piece presents a strong case for Kamala Harris and her policies, but there are several logical and rhetorical aspects worth analyzing: Logical and Rhetorical Errors Straw Man Argument: The speaker briefly mentions Trump’s negative attributes but then claims to focus on Harris without actually engaging with those criticisms. This might mislead viewers into thinking the arguments against Harris don't exist when they are just being sidestepped. Appeal to Emotion: The argument heavily relies on emotional appeals (e.g., "tough luck, cry me a river" for the wealthy). While emotional appeals can be powerful, they can also distract from logical reasoning and may alienate some audiences. Overgeneralization: Statements like "nobody needs a semi-automatic rifle with a 30-bullet magazine" oversimplify a complex issue. While the intent is to advocate for stricter gun control, the blanket statement may ignore valid arguments for gun ownership that some supporters might hold. Assuming Consensus: The speaker suggests that "we can all agree" on various points, such as the need to protect the Constitution. This can alienate viewers who may not share this perspective, undermining the argument's effectiveness. False Dichotomy: The claim that voting for Harris is synonymous with ensuring "basic rights like the right to bodily autonomy" can present a false dichotomy, implying that if one does not vote for Harris, they are against these rights, which might not fully encompass the complexity of political choices. Lack of Nuance: While the piece covers several proposals, it glosses over potential drawbacks or criticisms of those policies. For example, the expansion of Medicare and child tax credits could be met with challenges related to funding and implementation, which aren't addressed. Reductionist Approach: The argument presents a very binary view of voting, emphasizing that not voting for Harris means supporting the status quo or harmful policies without fully exploring other candidates’ positions or offering nuanced critiques. Political Implications Polarization: The language and framing contribute to the current political polarization, where opposing viewpoints are demonized rather than engaged with constructively. This can lead to increased division rather than fostering healthy debate. Mobilization vs. Persuasion: While the call to action at the end aims to mobilize voters, it may not be persuasive to undecided voters who are looking for a more balanced view of Harris's policies. It assumes that merely listing positives will sway all viewers, which might not account for the complexity of voter decision-making. Conclusion Overall, while the speaker makes a compelling case for Kamala Harris, there are logical and rhetorical weaknesses that could undermine the overall effectiveness of the argument. A more nuanced approach that engages with potential counterarguments and addresses the complexity of the issues at hand could strengthen the case.

@@shassett79 It sounds like you're suggesting that a GPT could mimic a certain kind of confident, but possibly shallow, knowledge-like someone who just discovered a new concept and is eager to show it off without a deep understanding. While it might be true that a language model could pass as this persona, passing the Turing Test isn't just about convincing people it has knowledge but about sustaining a conversation that feels naturally human across a broad range of topics. If a GPT model only regurgitates information from a Wikipedia article or relies on a limited understanding, it wouldn't truly pass the Turing Test.
