@@hillsane9262 By your reasoning because I am a Black man and a septuagenarian, the thought of Clarence Thomas being impeached and removed from the Supreme Court should offend me. It is not enough to ask whether a candidate is Black and then on learning that he or she is to vote for him or her. By this criterion, African-Americans should vote for fantastically reprehensible candidates such as Larry Elder, Wesley Hunt, and Byron Donalds. The most charismatic person ever to serve in the the U.S. House of Representatives, Harlem's very own and redoubtable Adam Clayton Powell, once remarked, "You don't have to be Black to think Black," it is, he said, a matter of whether you stand and fight with us. Nor do you have to be white to hold racist and class-conscious views that are harmful to Black and "ordinary" people not protected by financial wealth. What, I ask you, has the Biden administration done for the benefit of Black people, specifically, and the public in general? Yesterday, the President enumerated his accomplishments: He reduced inflation (Although not at my grocery store.), He came up with a peace plan for the Middle-East (Give Israel all the 2,000 lbs. bombs it needs to kill every last Palestinian in Gaza, so Israel can acquire it so that Israelis can live there peaceably.), And, he said that if he had another 4 years, he would restore Roe v. Wade (I wonder why hasn't he already done it?) None of the major social benefits Biden and Harris declared as objectives they would see through to enactment during their campaign were realized: Not paid family medical leave, nor universal eye or dental care; not free community college. As for the Voting Rights Act they promised to see restored, the Administration failed to even push for the enactment of the Act. Kamala made a few remarks that were no more than trite statements. And what no one who has a heart, mind, and soul should ever forget or forgive is her being a spokesperson for the Administration's approval and participation in the unspeakable genocide occurring in the Gaza! Tens of thousands of innocent Palestinians have been and continue to be murdered with the complete sanction of the Biden Administration. Explain to me why anyone who is African American, a member of a people who have been subjected to the worst abuses with the sanction of the United States government, would support a political hack without a conscience simply because she is a woman of color? African Americans should be especially outraged by her conduct! If, instead of her standing fully behind the murder of innocent Palestinians, she stood fully behind the Administration's approval of states subjecting African-Americans to the worst kinds of abuse in addition to their disenfranchisement, which the Biden Administration did nothing about, would you still support her candidacy for the presidency because she is a woman of color? It pleases me to know that younger Black voters have an entirely different view of the Democratic Party, which is firmly supported by Black women 50 and older. There is a white octogenarian whom I, a Black man, would chose over Kamala Harris, whom I think unfit for the office -- Bernie Sanders.

Shoot, She's more Indian than she's even black; her mom's full Indian, largely raised by her mom and her dad's biracial. And it shows with how she engages with black people; She panders to black people worse than Hillary Clinton.. but because she can claim to be black, those who dont pay much attention to politics (or look into her questionable career regarding black people) let her pass. Overall we need to be much more analytical about who we vote for, not even just with Kamala, but all together. The fact that most people dont do much of any homework before voting or pay much attention to politics to begin with is exactly how we got here. Shoot, if democrats wanted to still play Identity Politics with the whole thing, as much as a reach it may be, urging Michelle Obama to save america would be a far more advantageous and effective move than going with Kamala lol. She's far more charismatic and likeable, significantly less baggage, has more of the obama nostalgia the DNC tried to milk with Biden, and wont have to lean on the racist one-drop rule. And I'd be hard pressed to believe she'd be anywhere near as bad for the country as either Biden or Trump. Honestly I know theres no way he's going to win, but I'm voting Cornel West. Voting Republican is voting for corporation and racist insanity, and voting for democrats is voting for corporations and a deteriorating status quo that only pretended to like you. As a Black man, I call BS on what Sharron is saying. Kamala was never a strong candidate, and whether due to her own shortcomings or the Biden administration's actions, she is simply not ready. This highlights a significant issue within the Democratic Party: the overemphasis on identity politics. Watching Obama become the first Black president was an amazing moment, but right now, we don't need to focus on identity. We need the best possible cabinet to defeat Trump. If the Democrats were smart, they would have elected Biden and chosen a stronger VP with the intention of positioning them to take over in four years. Additionally, they should have been laying the groundwork to make the party younger, more successful, and more energized.

Ok, I'm a black man... I don't like Harris. I don't like her because of her campaign in 2020. She was a pretend progressive, which is the last thing I want... but tbh, she's no worse than the rest of the options the DNC would realistically pick when it comes to policy. I hate to say it, but yes... it would be a "burden" in modern US politics to pick a lackluster black woman as the candidate. (I'd still take our chances with her than Biden, obviously) Yes, we already had Obama. He had higher hills to climb in his first election...being a black man with a foreign father and a Muslim name? Thats hard to sell in 2008. I remember that shit show.... He still won and is relatively popular among democrats. He was "progressive" enough in certain social issues... but mainly stayed the course when it came to the more important economic issues. All true.... But just go watch Obama deliver a speech. He was, and still is the best orator we've had in politics... He had a swagger and attitude about him that exuded competence, throughout his career. Image, unfortunately, means a lot to the public. Moreso than policy. He (like Biden's admin, lets be honest) put back together a disaster of an economy that the republicans left behind. That's what people will remember him for. But after him.... we got Trump. Lets not forget how fast America can swing. And it swung HARD. People were completely done with republicans at that point, and would have chosen anyone who seemed competent enough to steer us away from disaster. And he did just enough that we put him back in office with a comfortable margin. These are not the circumstances now. AT ALL There is a genuine fear that those perceived weaknesses (incoming DEI trolls saying it's gone all the way to the Whitehouse), in modern day politics... would ensure she does not perform as well as a generic white democrat. At the end of the day, I begrudgingly want dems to win. We CAN NOT have Trump. We have to swallow our pride and chose the person who is most likely to beat him, F everything else.
