I’m a 63 year old white woman, I was a horrible student & I hated school, I became more interested in everything after I got out of school. My heading improved etc. I’m not saying it’s right I didn’t graduate or get a GED. I didn’t get the help I needed in school to want to learn, teachers wanted you to get help from other students, well that’s embarrassing. If people at any age can learn to read, or improve their reading, that’s more then half the battle. With the internet, you can research better then back in my day. Street smarts are just as important as book smarts, I’m in NO WAY saying Black men don’t have either, but I know many schools fail Black children too. I worked for years in Philly public schools, and only 1 teacher was a black man. However, one year I was in a room with a younger black man, both as teacher's assistants, and that man honestly inspired me so much. I hardly knew him, but he was there supporting my goals and pushed me to go get my teacher's certificate. He even proofread my grad school essay.

Yes we do. When VP Harris talked about how Americans invested in WWII veterans, she was taking about my Dad, who served in the Army during the war, earning a Purple Heart.
