Also honesty was so common in those days. Not only Kamaraj, almost all the TamizhNadu CMs were honest till that time. DMK's Karunanidhi started corrupting the entire system and Globalization economic policy have turned almost every politician as dishonest, money minded crooks.

When Chief Minister Kamaraj was instrumental in conducting 1955 Avadi Congress, my mother a teenager then was selected as a seva volunteer. She still recalls that Avadi session where she got autographs from Kamarajar and the smoking Nehru. When Kamarajar visuted our house in Mylapore during 1967 election campaign (My periyappa was a Congress councillor of 95th ward then), he enjoyed the filter coffee and Idly Chutney. I used to be a staunch Congress supporter under Kamarjar. But after his death I slowly veered towards BJP after the advent of ABVajpayeeji and LKAdvaniji. Jai Hind!

YYY ! Kamaraj was the best CM which TN Ever Had in the History of TN politics. MGR was quiet fine. After them till today i had never seen any one Equal to Kamaraj or at least MGR in TN. Some political parties are trying to attach the fine Legacy of Kamaraj to them in order to paint their ugly tint to look Bright. We Tamil Nadu people all know about kamarajar...Kurinj flower blossoms for every twelve years.. likewise these leaders Apj Abdul Kalam, kamarajar are rare....He has power to give MBBS seats to few students under CM quota..He received many applications..But he recommended only applications with fingerprints of their parents (he preferred children of uneducated parents)..He was not educated,but no one can rule like him...kurinji flower..He is called EYE OPENER OF EDUCATION(கல்வி கண் திறந்த கர்ம வீரர்..Mid day meal scheme was praised in foreign countries including England.. His period is gold period in Tamil Nadu and no one had given such period after his death..

My father who is 85 plus remembers him very well he told about an incident when he became cm there was no public tap nearby to his house his mother had to walk little bit to fetch water and the water department provided it at his mother's door step when he saw this change he questioned it because I am cm you guys did this before I leave and be back in my office I want the tap moved to the exact location where it was not near by to my house. He is a very rare gem of a person.
