Fighters like Leon who are precision strikers with low output of attacks (probably because of his limited cardio) always have problems with pressure fighters with high output - khabib style or even merab. Colby was scared of the leon power and tried to fight leon edwards from a kickboxing range from long distance which allowed Leon to fight at a comfortable pace and land leg kicks consistently thoughout the 5 rounds. Aldo colby's wrestling is overrated thzts why he didn't even try to shoot on kamaru even when he was getting destroyed on the feet, he knew it was going to be a waist of energy a d cardio for nothing. As for kamaru he fought the perfect fight in the 2nd fight with Leon until the head kick but in the 3rd he was too much cautious and wasn't striking and putting pressure on leon confidentely and so the result is he tried to hard for the take down and wasn't having as success as he was in the 2nd fight leon...

Great insight and in-depth breakdown of the fight. Belal really did his homework. And he can thank Kamaru for essentially a blueprint on what to do. Belal/kamaru would be a great fight but in order to get another title shot, you need a win. Personally I'd very much like to see Usman/chimaev in a 5 rounder. That would definitely be a no.1 contender fight in the middleweight division. As for welterweight, you'd probably need a win over Shavkat/JDM/Garry
@peacefuldecadence3283 ай бұрын
Belal didn't copy Kamaru's blueprint cause simply Kamaru lost 2 fights in a row against Leon he followed khabib's gameplan which is basically GSPing the f out of Leon jab jab jab double leg.

Belal will defend against Shavkat at UFC 308 October Usman vs Garry for the number 1 contender fight at UFC 309 November Leon vs JDM in December

@@peacefuldecadence328 khabib laid out a plan based off footage of Leon. Who's been in the octagon with Leon more than an hour? Kamaru. And not only has Kamaru been in there with Leon for that long, he also dominated for majority. So yes he did in fact lay out a blueprint and khabib&co added there 2 cents also. Don't just look at a paper record, there's much more to that

I was most impressed by the level up in the striking department for Belal. He wasnt throwing power shots but dang he landed a shit ton on Leon. Lot's of great left jabs. If GSP fought the same fight the same Belal haters would be riding them nuts.
@omarisawesome19963 ай бұрын
Honestly think belal would just take usman down. Hes a better wrestler than colby and has more cardio than khamzat.
@JT769123 ай бұрын
No hes not Colby is a D1 wrestler, the highest Belal competed was high school. Do you understand the difference? Also having more cardio than Khamzat isn't a flex thats like saying you have better striking than Ben Askren. Usman has better takedown defence than Leon and Belal, Damian Maia took Belal down and held him against the cage, Usman stuffed every takedown from Maia with ease. Belal would keep it standing with Usman because he would get sprawled on like Usman did to Colby and beat him up from top position.
@skindred18883 ай бұрын
Khamzats cardio is directly linked to him trying to finish the fight in every round....easy to keep your cardio if you just want to hold onto someone.

I've been saying it *forever, that Edwards is *not a PPV fighter. Apart from knocking out Usman , all his fights are about exciting as watching paint dry. He is the Stipe of the welterweight division!

The only problem with Leon is his mind. He has everything to be a welterweight GOAT

Solid breakdown Kamaru Usman and Henry Cejudo. Man UFC 304 was epic!! Tom Aspinall is the best heavyweight in the world, he deserves the Jon Jones fight 100%, in the main event Belal Muhammad fought perfectly to win the belt, phenomenal performance, just the absolute best game plan to win!! Respect man. 👏👏👏👏
