The 'growly' part is the singer of the black metal band 'Dimmu Borgir', Shagrath. Great band too. Check them out. :-)

This and its sibling album from Kamelot heavily featured Simone Simons even when she's not explicitly given credit. Simone Simons is the lead singer of Epica. Epica is an album from Kamelot from which they took the name. Memento Mori, The Haunting in Time, Ghost Opera, When The Lights Go Down, Abandoned, and Soul Society (shout out to Bleach fans from the late aughts who watched all those AMVs) are great songs from Roy Khan's time as lead vocalist for Kamelot. The two albums are concept albums covering Faust.

If I remember correctly, the connection with those bands is a little deeper than that because If I'm correct, Simone Simons is married to Thomas Youngblood, the guitarist and one of the founding members of Kamelot. I don't think I would refer to it as taken.

@@blackmetalassasin1 It is deeper as you say, though that's the term for when you take inspiration from something.

This has all the epicness of a Nightwish song ...! The "March Of Mephisto" is the first track on the album "The Black Halo". Wiki: "The Black Halo is ... by American power metal band Kamelot. It is a concept album inspired by Goethe's Faust ... it is the second and final record in Kamelot's two-part rock opera about Ariel (a character based on Heinrich Faust)." Liking the Middle Eastern-sounding melody and powerful vocal delivery ...
