My thoughts is that I’m underwhelmed (not by much) like a lot of unanswered questions like how hotaro was able to do things without being told about such as how’d he know how to henshin or why he turned into his wild form then was randomly able to turn into he base form, even if it might have been the random images I just wished the writer put more effort to the unfinished plots. There’s gonna be someone giving me some explanation.

Coming from Geats, I have mixed feelings for EP1 as of now but I hope for the best in the future, Story-wise it has return to a more generic origin story for a 1st EP, Acting-wise I know that these are new actors and actresses but their acting is a bit stiff; hope that it improves as the season progresses. Design-wise and worldbuilding, I love that colour is a nod to Old Ichigo but just that the wild form is a bit unnecessary, I like how they explain the henshin pose but in the 仮面ライダーガッチャード【変身講座】 video. Theme song is actually not bad coming from the guys who gave us Chair.

I mean...I don't really have a problem with CGI in this tbh. To me, the Chemy isn't even supposed to feel real, they are literally created by magic and sealed away in another dimension. Just using a prop would feel even more awkward for what they're going for anyway. But I guess my ability to suspend my disbelief is just higher than average people.

Series has a lot of potential, but I feel like it’s going to need time to cook before I can give a full review. The Geats: 4 Aces movie gave a much better demonstration of his powers where he can preform alchemy easily just by hitting a wall and turned it into tendrils to trap enemies and such. I feel like most people won’t like it after the absolute banger that Geats’ first episode was but it’s still pretty good.

Tbf he might be more experienced in the Geats movie and it's also like first impression of the Kamen Rider so they have to overhype the abilities. Movie cameos are always more powerful than what the Rider power really is

Yeah, I'm not too keen on the overuse of CG but it was an ok start for Gotchard.

Man it always sucks to see tokusatsu, whose defining trait as a genre was the pioneering of practical effects, go full on CGI schlock again. Canned henshin sequences and bad cgi creatures everywhere. And it doesn't even look as good as Geats IX, which was like one of the only greenscreen CGI henshin sequences in all of Geats.

There's a VERY obvious explanation for why there's so much CGI here, the suits ate up most of the budget this year. Geats was working with relatively few suits and props, it left the special effects team more money to play with. Gotchard's base form VERY noticeably has two suits, the chrome one designed for stills, and an action one that drops most of the chrome for a flatter metallic paints that won't screw with the lighting. The forms announced so far also seem to heavily rely on that chrome aesthetic, so they likely need variants for those too. If copious CGI's a dealbreaker for you, probably best to just drop Gotchard rather than force yourself to stick with it, if this trend continues, I don't see it getting any better.

Wait, Gotchard has been subbed already? That's weird, the site I usually use to watch this doesn't have it yet...OFF TO GOOGLE! The thing about the CG is, it's always going to be bad so it's best used sparingly and mixed with practical effects or else you risk another Saber's early episodes and good lord we don't need more of that. 1:20 Does he also want to be friends with everyone? 1:50 The CG hopper wasn't necessary, they could have just used a puppet with light up eyes 2:21 I think this series is confusing alchemist with mages... Yeah definitely the Kaijin do have great designs, they look good 4:02 NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE, ALL OF MY NOPE! 4:22 This henshin sequence reminds me of Saint Seiya and that's a good thing. If only it wasn't CG... So...Kamen Rider Pokemon? Is it just me or was this episode shorter than most? This isn't the first time we've had card based Rider, Blade and Decade have done it before and honestly this isn't much different especially with the cards being scanned on the weapon. The blue CG hopper really wasn't necessary though. It's a promising start though, I'm eager to see where this goes. Also quick question, are your Geats reactions going to stay Patreon only? I REALLY enjoyed Geats and I was looking forward to seeing your thoughts on the show.

I don’t know why they make kamen rider henshin sequence look like a power ranger transformation sequence 😢. What I am trying to say is that when old kamen riders henshin , their surroundings doesn’t change.They re just standing there ,and transforming into kamen riders! We can even see their background view with trees or streets cuz they didn’t escape from reality But starting from kamen rider saber series , when actor start to henshin with belt , his surrounding start changing like he is in some kinds of mysterious worlds / rooms . That is so power ranger’s design. when u rewatch old kamen riders series , u can see the difference

Believe it or not, Kamen rider used to have stock henshins all the way back in the Showa era especially if we're talking about black and black rx. He'll even kiva had stock henshin for the form changes

Protagonist was standing there and used belt .After that, we can see a lot of destruction due to his hopper came from satellite 🛰️.It is so relatable like I see him henshin(ing) in real life! In front of my eyes! And My favorite henshin sequences are kamen rider kabuto . Tendo shoji 😍 He was showing up in front of his enemy ,and calling his zector ! And did henshin sequence naturally! Most important of all , his belt and his zector are so cool since they don’t make sounds like coming from 4 years old kids toys😂. Nowadays henshin belts sound like a toy belt !

@@awesome395 yes kamen rider kiva has so many scenes like this , even their finishers moves! When Kamen rider ixa ‘s final form use his finishers move , (director or editor)they directed the scene that kamen rider ixa is before the big glorious burning sun ☀️! That’s hilarious, and unrelatable ! Other kamen riders make their finishers, their backgrounds stay the same . So I can feel like they are fighting in real world like in front of my eyes! For example, kamen rider kabuto ‘s rider kick ! He was just clicking “1,2,3,” and using his zector like click clack and then BOOM! He turned himself, whipped his legs towards the enemies head! So natural, so realistic! In conclusion, hensei riders are all time favorites of mine starting from kamen rider kuuga , no fear, no pain guy 😂.

So far I'm not a fan. The main writer's major credits include KR Ghost (not my favorite) and KR Saber (couldn't even finish the series). I also don't like cards as the gimmick because it just seems like a way to save money on manufacturing the toys. I'll keep watching for now and hope it improves.

I am going to let them cook for few more episodes but still the first episode is a whole lot weaker than Geats, Saber and Zero One. I know the main casts are mostly new actors but damn they are a lot stiffer than any of the previous Reiwa casts, it really does not help to sell a good first impression. The main girl is unironically way stiffer than Natsumikan and Akiyama Rena during Agito, I just cant handle it. It feels like it has been forever since we got new main actors who are as stiff as wooden plank and talk almost like a robot.
