Why are a lot of people casually forgetting about Chad(especially here on youtube)? He came up with licks chords and so much more that would literally change the course of the song and even spark the idea of a new song. He is the other genius next to Pharrell. Without Chad there wouldn’t be The Neptunes and vice versa. They literally need each other for the famous Neptunes sound. Best chemistry in producing ever. Listen to Pharrell’s solo stuff, great of course, but not that typical sound structure and feel. Chad is the freaking whizz-kid on keys and guitar and more! 🔥🔥🔥come on people! Give it up for Chad👏🏾🙌🏾👏🏾!!

This album was written before Timberlake was introduced to the project. What became Justified was originally offered to Michael Jackson, according to Pharell MJ turned it down as being too commercial for what he wanted to work with at the time and specifically asked Pharell to ask Justin Timberlake to go solo with this album. Justin also said directly that the reason he finally had the confidence to go solo was when Michael called him directly to tell him that he was ready to go for it and that the Pharell project was the right door for him. They both said if it wasn’t for MJ this may never have happened. Pharrell said on couple of interviews that Michael phoned into the studio during the first set of recording sessions, on two occasions, to ask how Justin was getting on with the vocals and check up on them all. Essentially this album had massive Michael Jackson blessings and influence from conceptualisation right up to structure and completion. It’s like a modern embodiment of a jackson album, that’s why it’s so good. Even the videos had constant salutes to his dance moves, at the time I was 17 I thought it was a piss take copy or a really good tribute act. “He’s ripping off MJ moves and vocal style” I said to people. Little did I know how involved Jackson’s soul was on the project. Now I look at this and smile.

A lot of you misconstrued what Pharrell said when he stated these were written for Micharl. Her meant the productions, not the lyrics and medloies. You can clearly see him, Chad and Justin creating in these clips. Even the productions were more evolved on the final product from what you hear here. People like to slight Justin a lot. Yall really need to check his production and songwring resume outside of what hes done for himself. He's produced for Jamie Foxx, Charlie Wilson, Beyonce, Keri Hilson, T.I., Rihanna, etc.

life is literally depressing as fuck seeing what amazing things people do with their life, what they have, wealthy families. I came from unemployed bottom of the barrel bloodline.. new tech and social media is great for people doing well off and rely on it for money, but for average people middle to lower class I sure miss the times without all this shit

What a pleasure to watch this, just goosebumps all over hearing those legendary tunes materialize for the first time in that studio. The funny thing is, at the time, i was just some 22yo knowitall with all these preconceived ideas about Justin Timberlake, since i only knew him vaguely from being from NSync. So at the time i felt some instinctive resistance to anything he would bring out, but then this album came out, and its quality just immediately broke you down to your knees and respect the genius that was the collaboration between Chad, Pharell and Justin. Most legendary album from the zeros? Could very well be. Great vid!
@Shaddyraddy922 ай бұрын
Everybody knew Justin was going solo. But, nobody knew hooking up with the Neptunes and Timbaland was going to solidify his career. You can tell in this clip this album was going to be a success. And it was. Can't believe this is over 20 years ago. Time flies!
