About the research question, as a law professor I always tell my students that they should always try and figure things out on their own at first. I understand why you didn't ask for help because as a lawyer it's your job to figure it out. Sometimes though we do have to ask for help.

Hey there. I'm a Plaintiff Employment Law Attorney as well. Do not hesitate to ask for help, if you don't want to ask a partner, expand your network and ask colleagues/mentors that are more experienced. It's definitely a balance. I usually ask for more examples or personal experiences. Also, see if your state has some type of trial lawyers group (or maybe a cohort through your bar). I get a lot of samples and advice from our local group. On a National level try American Association of Justice. You're doing great! Every 6 months take a moment to reflect and you'll see how much you've grown. You would not believe it!

I have this metal ball on my dash and a magnet on my phone (they sell a kit). You can swivel in many different directions and your phone wont fall. Plus you can stick your phone on metal surfaces which becomes more convinient than you would think.
