A for Aleph

Күн бұрын

In this Episode of Aleph Podcast, we had the honor of hosting Kami Jee aka Kamran Khan, keyboardist and founding member of Aaroh!
Kamran grew up in Saudi and had a deep passion for music and keyboards which led him to the Pakistani Music industry in the mid-90s. He connected and worked with some of the most renowned musicians at the time and such as Junaid Jamshed alongside Nabeel Nihal. Along the way, Nabeel and Kami got the opportunity to work on their own alternative rock band and it was Shoaib Mansoor who helped them come up with the name 'Aaroh' in 1998. The name refers to the ascending scale in classical music.
Soon, Aaroh emerged as the next big thing after winning the first edition of Pepsi Battle of the Bands - over competitors like EP and The Mekaal Hassan Band.
After the original lineup of Aaroh split up, Kamran decided to move to the U.S. and has been working there ever since.

Kamiji is a beast. What I like about actual legends like him, nabeel and faraz anwar is they don't consciously try to add zabardasti ki english like new singers/band members. They're comfortable with Urdu and themselves

Great interview. The original Aaroh lineup is still one of the most incredible lineups.

Such an underappreciated artist, kamijee's sound has always been very organic, polished, warm and spacious. Aaroh without him and Nabeel was an entirely different band. Lovely to discover more details about his contributions to Pak music.

Ab tak nothing is progressing in Pakistan and with entertainment of music is slowly disappearing and everything’s online going, shit is still continuing to happen and no changes at all. The music in the past is just being memories like bands are coming and going away which is sad. To me there’s no future of the music industry and I’m glad to hear the musicians expressing themselves about it. Amazing interview of Kamijee.

Probably Kami is referring to 'Tum Kehti Ho' a hit song which is also in Dil ki Baath Album.

But composition or melody wise Dil ki baat is the weakest JJ album . Always knew Aaroh’s second album was Haider’s work . But still never liked the dark and sad first album .

Honestly speaking.. this one was quite boring.. It sounds more like a Bhaashan.. kay aap yeh karo gay to yeh hoga.. Not much details about Music and gears..

Clearly shows you and nabeel were doing music for money and not passion. Glad aaroh kicked you both out
