Thanks for this video. I already have a Jackery 1000 though. I can charge my iphones, ipads, garmin, drone batteries and camera batteries all at one time. Plus use my microwave and hot water pot heater. Got it for my 4-Runner for overnight landscape trips. Been testing it on my Adventurer 2i for the past 2 hours. Still at 98% power. Came with 2 solar panels as well for recharging during a sunny day. Will test again tonight to make sure I'm it's tracking properly with the Jackery. Clear skies......

Hi, this is an interesting option. Can this be used to power a ZWO camera as well? What is that dummy battery that you show at 1:50? Where can we buy that? Thanks
@Julesfromdenmark3 жыл бұрын
What a coincidence. I just bought this exact Omegon powerbank second hand from another astrophotographer who was leaving the hobby. I should show up in the mail tomorrow. Got it for half the price of a new one, and he only used it four times (his account obviously). Looking forward to giving it a spin. Like you I’ve also been holding back on upgrading from the star adventurer because of the massive battery upgrade needed. EQM-35 will probably be my next upgrade.

You won’t be dissapointed Jules! I will be making some videos soon about stuff you can do with even a relatively small GoTo (like the EQM-35) when you connect it to a computer. It’s mind-blowing 😁

Great tip! And is much better than the Celestron PowerBank, since it features 12 Ah against 10Ah. So indeed is very capable of powering most of the go-to mounts plus some extra stuff at the same time. Thanks for sharing!

Hi,is this power bank good for Asi Air Pro?
@kamilkp3 жыл бұрын
I’m not sure about the AsiAir but considering it’s just a tiny computing board I suppose it should drain way less current than the mount with motors etc. You’d have to look up the specs and do the math
@OrangesII3 жыл бұрын
So it's 138Wh/900 grams for $150 when you compare it to the Jackery 160wh which is $110. So it's more expensive for less power, however it is 1815g so is around 2x as heavy. So what you're really paying for is the compact form factor. Which has my vote lol I'll probably pick one of these up lol
@kamilkp3 жыл бұрын
Yeah I can stuff it in a pelican case along with my entire mount (exluding only the tripod). So it’s way easier to transport and it doesn’t have to sit in the mud when I’m imaging 😅

What about powering a bigger mount? Star trackers can work but what is your take on something like an avx mount?
@kamilkp3 жыл бұрын
Well on the Celestron’s site I see it drains 3,5A of current. My EQM-35 drains 3A so not much less. I’d say it would with the AVX nicely too but it’s just a guess based on specs

@@kamilkpcan you help me please? I bought a NexStar 8se telescope, and I'm thinking about using it with a Power bank and a USB converter cable for 12v and 2a... do you know if 2a is enough to run the motor without problems? This Powerbank Is 144Wh @12V, 12Ah. If I Run ASIAir Plus Which Requires 12V 3Amps, Doing The Math It Should Run Only For 4hrs. Correct Me If I Am Wrong Or Not Sure If I Am Missing Something Here. 12V *12Amp = 144W 12v*3Amp = 36W 144/36 = 4hrs
@kamilkp2 жыл бұрын
The math checks out. My mini PC pulls around 1A and I had it running on the same power bank (via a DC splitter) with a cooled camera from ZWO and after 4 hours I had around 75% juice left. It’s the heaters that drain power like crazy (I had them connected to the other powerbank along with the mount and rotator and the juice level there was around 25%)

@@kamilkp can it provide enough power for both on the one socket?
@kamilkp2 жыл бұрын
You’d have to check the specs of your mount and heater and add up their amp consumption and see if it’s still lower than max amp from that socket on the power brick
@neovo9032 жыл бұрын
@@kamilkp looking at it, the dew heater pulls 1.33Ah at 12V at full power and provides 16W (Lynx Astro). The mount (HEQ5) draws up to 2.4A when using both axis. Some people like to overvolt it to 13.8V and then it draws 1.9A when driving both axis. Looking at the powerbank it provides a max of 10A on the power socket. So it should work, thanks! Pulling 4 amps max it'll last 3 hours (12Ah capacity) not including if it powers anything else such as guidecams or dslr ac adapters or laptops (which would need a power source to last an extended period of time, I don't think the usb can charge my laptop fast enough)

I have the same powerbank and I used it for AsiAir Pro, ZWO ASI 533 and AZ-GTi mount without issues. Dew heaters are a different story. I was able to use only one (with USB cable) and the current drawing was quite high with cooled camera alllowing for max 4 hours session. Using two dew heaters through USB was impossible as they caused switching off the USB power. The safest solution is to use other power source for dew heaters. I did not measured the real capacity of the powerbank but consumer powerbanks available for charging laptops, tablets or phones have the real capacity at 50%-70% of the "marketed on the package" value. Some companies mention it in a detailed specification but many of them just keep it hidden.
@kamilkp3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the input Wojciech! Yeah I think the best option is to use a standard cheap and small smartphone-charger style usb powerbank to power the dew heaters. I use a Samsung 10000mAh for that (I mentioned it in one of my previous videos about dew heaters)

Update ! ! ! ! Well apparently I found that my Jackery 1000 is not good for your trackers per Skywatcher. Doesn't provide consistent power all the time. The same applies to rechargeable AA batteries for your tracker. Celestron batteries were suggested for use in the Skywatcher Trackers. I'm just passing this info on from Skywatcher. This shouldn't have to be rocket science to power your tracker. Tired of buying AA batteries which aren't getting any cheaper.
