This is a neat idea! Shaybs makes a great point about getting too big an audience. You start attracting really dumb/ignorant comments that repeat the same thing over and over again. Part of why I love making videos is to talk with people who give a genuinely insightful comment because it gives inspiration and motivation for myself. I can't imagine being someone with a fanbase like Gigguk or TheAnimeMan and having bottom of the barrel comments every single upload because most of the time those people don't even realise what you're trying to do with your video. I feel comments like that at a certain point, don't even care how much time or effort you put into your video. If it's "good enough" they'll just enjoy it like any other. PS. Very surprising that you mention that I was the first anituber to come across your channel. You were already making great underrated content!

I really enjoyed this Kami. I talk to Shaybs a lot but I still felt like I was able to learn more new things about his perspective, so that should attest to your ability as a host. Hope to see more of these. That hand thumbnail does suck though. It's really bad haha.

The point discussed about how Anitube couldn't be academia and the often times vacuum of discussion was really well found and brought up an interesting component of why I love Anitube. Although video responses are dead and the comments can be a cesspit, one of the reasons beyond me just loving talking and discussing and thinking about different ways to make anime based content are the small moments of discussion that can come out of it. The feeling of having your content be seen or have an effect that you guys discussed really hit home, when I get a comment that just engages with what I was saying or even challenges it in a meaningful way is really great and pushes me to just keep making. So although it can just be discussion and thoughts and feelings going to no one in particular, there is that chance that someone decides to drop in and engage with it. Even if it is a comment which may not be the same as a video reply. Hell, even on Anilist I usually just give my impressions for episodes and even if no one replies people do like and see it. This kind of "discussion" although not at any capacity the level of how discussion can be, is a core part of the community for me. Great discussion over all, loved the points about AMV making as well. It's such a beautifully potent art form.

Good job! You both have a lot of interesting thoughts on the subject. My perspective is a little different, since I'm just an anituber for fun, whereas a lot of us make a career out of it or try. But I've just always loved media analysis, thinking about shows and talking about them and things like that, so I just figured why not do what I'd be doing anyway, but in video form so I could show my friends who already watch better people do it? But honestly, I think a lot of people, career or not, do it just because they love it.

This. I can appreciate anitubers chasing the dream and trying to build their channel into a career, or the anitubers trying create the most polished video essays ever as if they're defending a thesis or submitting work to a peer reviewed journal. But not everyone is in that narrow boat. I'm just here vomiting words into video format about anime that gets me mad hype, and looking to indulge in gushing with other like minded, cultured enthusiasts.
