Matt represents the audience! And the reason we love him in these videos is because he often says the same things WE say when we see what he is seeing. All the "ooohs" and "ahhhs" and "awwwws" ... those are from us just as much as from him! All the questions he asks are usually the same questions WE have, too! He's an excited kid, a great addition to the Kamp, and you can just tell you two are great friends! 💖

And, last of all....let's hear it for the IRREGULARS (the somewhat misfits ) because THEY ARE US !

Last week I received two red foots from you. They arrived on a Friday , at 11 o’clock. I soaked them for about half an hour, then placed them on their food dish with some collard greens ,blueberries ,and some tortoise pellets. The tortoises began eating as soon as they were given the food. Thirty minutes after opening the box. So I picked up a piece of collard green to see if they would take food from my hand, being brand new babies with the remnants of the yolk sack still on their plastron , I had doubts , but amazingly it took food from my hand fearlessly. All this after a flight from south Florida to Ohio ,on a chilly day no less. I couldn’t be more pleased with these healthy tortoises. Thanks Kenan ! You care and love for these animals is very apparent and appreciated. 🐢🐢

I’m incredibly interested in adopting a red foot or Herman’s tortoise from Kenan myself! He seems to have amazing hatchlings. Just wonder how long you waited for an email response from him after inquiring about your tortoises? I’ve been waiting about 2 weeks to see if their is any availability on tortoise adoption 😢

As an Aussie I wish I could have a tortoise. I'll have to settle with looking at one in the wild or zoo. I came back from a trip to Sri Lanka yesterday and while there, was at a beach side restaurant that had a fresh water stream beside it. The owner came over and said, come look at this. We walked behind the kitchen and saw a massive water monitor just chilling on the bank of the fresh water stream. Apparently they feed him fish heads and he comes by every so often. I immediately thought of Slinky, although this one was twice his size! It looked like a mini komodo dragon. I could have touched his tail but I wasn't game to - although he seemed very calm with us so close. Such a buzz to see a massive wild monitor up so close.

EVERY time I watch his videos that little one comes scampering out of its hide as if it’s looking for him and remembers his voice! Shows how well they’re taken care of by him. When my youngest was a hatchling (the one in my profile pic) I put a few smooth river stones in his water bowl just in case. He flipped in the bowl once, thankfully he lives right next to where I’m always at so I saw him, and he was immediately able to press a stone against the dish and right himself. Of course it’s important to get them right side up asap, but it’s equally important to give them a moment or two to try to do it themselves. They have to learn ❤

Cherry heads -- the Sith of the tortoises. They're raising an army behind the scenes to overthrow Kenan. ( => and he thought the Chinese box turtles were the big troublemakers! Mutant ninja turtle re-enactments aside, they're harmless or Guapo and Lola wouldn't be living with them...) The "Darth Mauls" of reptiles may look cute but like most tortoises they have an attitude -- even if they don't headbutt you or snap like Marge! They've been thwarted by Slinky and the Alabras, the NICE tortoises, but.... countermeasures.... are being developed!

Remiculate is made before Micah or Micah the same mineral that's found in granite and he does those little sparkly flex in granite. it can also be found naturally just by itself and it usually comes in large sheets and what they do is they heat it so that it expands because the layers contract from each other and leave diggaps between the layers Then it chopped up and made into vermiculite and it's used to add air and retain moisture in soil.
