Kamui a Gintama Character Analysis

I think Kamui is criminally underrated amongst the Ginrama Fandom, it's sad to see so many look down at his character because he was nothing more then a "Heart broken mama's boy" when there was more behind his pain than just the loss of his mother.

Too bad the toxic majority of the fandom would disagree with you since they call him overrated for no reason while overpraising something that is really overrated (like takasugi, also Gin and Kagura are low-key overhyped too).

@@starfighterz7112 I disagree on that, Gintoki, Kagura, and Takasugi are also all well written characters in my opinion. Gintama does an amazing job with its characters and I'm not going to drag any down to bring one up.

Shinpachi gets a lot of hate, but he's surrounded by war veterans and aliens from the strongest race and everyone expects him to be just as strong XD He's strong in his own way, and even if he wasn't he's still a great character.

Kamui is my favorite character now my love for him was mostly due to his violent and dangerous nature but the dude never frown. I love characters like Kamui because this man never loses his temper nor scream angrily because that’s not scary. But someone who just do violent and brutal things without being flinching while smiling that’s scary

Great video man, kamui is definitely a character that can be relatable to people that lost a parent in life and fuels that pain with delusions that he has to be stronger and put strength over everything even his own family, and blaming his father for the death of his mother and abandoning him even though he did it to find ways to save his wife.

Damn straight, even if it’s through a superhuman alien who fights with an umbrella Gintama can still ground its characters in real feeling and relatable character arcs one of the reasons the show is as good as it is

I just thought of this while watching you video but what’s interesting to me between Kagura and Kamui is their views on strength. Kamui pursues physical strength whereas Kagura is pursuing emotional/mental strength. Kagura wants to be able to resist the auto blood within her, growing emotionally throughout the series to achieve that, whereas Kamui just relies on becoming physically stronger, solving everything through brute strength. I freakin love this anime!!!

Great analysis I was expecting to be disappointed! To add on this, look up parentication, specially instrumental parentication. Kamui not only had to protect Kagura, he probably had to grocery shop, pay bills, clean the house, do laundry, bathe his sister (possibly help his mom bathe too), feed his sister, pretty much become the father. At 5 years old! Putting mature responsibilities on a child like that is very damaging. Some of the lasting effects of childhood parentication are: Tying self worth to achievements, Lack of sense of self, Emotional Suppression, Interpersonal problems, Loss of childhood, Guilt, and more! Seeing some of his actions in the show, it starts making a lot of sense ...

Kamui is one of the best-written, complex yet most underappreciated and overlooked characters in the show ever, definitely top 5 and i hate most fans' opinions always downplaying him in everything. He's far more interesting for me to watch than Takasugi a.k.a everybody's fav overrated glory-hogger. His story seems very complicated and understandable, which makes him stand out for me a lot, it made me tear up for him and even see myself in him as i find him pretty much relatable in some aspects. His redemption was impressive even though it was criminally underutilized. I also love how funny he can be at times esp in the fight against that old Yato dude. Sucks so much that the creators dislike him enough not to include him in the final movie like they did with the whole cast. This made me subsequently drop Gintama. p.s. i also don't understand the hate he used to get and still gets from some fans.

Okay so I love Takasugi a lot and I think he's a really good character too but Kamui has so much unexpected depth and I would say he's a better written antagonist than given credit for... He's my personal favorite and I absolutely adore him. His lack of screen time is really frustrating but the screen time he does get is all gold and so well used. I also can't believe he's not in the final it's like... What

Bahahahahaha imagine dropping a show bc your favorite character wasn't involved in 2hrs worth of screentime. What would Kamui have done there? He was a really important character in the first fight against Utsuro and the final movie is mostly about Shoyo's disciples so Kamui not being there isn't surprising. Kamui is an A tier character no doubt but Takasugi is way more complex and layered character than Kamui is, so stop hating on a character that has nothing to do with the video and stop showing your immaturity.

@@S.K.K7 you're the one being immature here for making fun of other peoples' personal opinions. Kamui was never that important in a fight against Utsuro because the plot didn't even let him fight him properly, it's the main trio that got the job done the most. He could've been given a chance to fight him again but this time it's the Joui members that got the job done, his character development moments with his family interactions were criminally underused because, well, who the hell cares? let's give everything to the popular/important characters everything as always. It is tiring for me to see the same old thing over and over again. By your logic, other characters that appeared during the second part of the arc shouldn't have appeared either since they were just there. By the way, Kamui is S tier for me and Takasugi is that character that never interested me at all and still doesn't, i just never saw the appeal. And you can't force me to do or not to do anything since i don't know you and i don't care about you.

You literally said you dropped the show bc your favorite character wasn't going to have a big part in it. Kamui was the antagonist to Kagura's story, which we have witnessed and already dealt with, the most Sorachi could've utilized his character afterwards was his yato strength and his harusame fleet, both which played a major part in the silver soul arc part 2 so he had a massive part in it. You complaining about Yorozuya having the final blow to Utsuro while it is clear that Kamui, Umibouzu and the Shinsengumi trio were there as well dealing that blow. You are acting as if Kamui is the main character of the show and that you watch the show only for him, and while there's nothing wrong with watching a show because of a side character, you can't just hate on the characters that are more relevant. And Takasugi is a more complex character than Kamui is. Sorachi utilized Kamui as well as he could, reuniting him with his father and sister in the planet were his mother wanted to go is a proper ending for him. I don't know what you want him to do more? Make him join the yorozuya? Will that make you happy lmao. He is still a fan favorite character, so stop thinking you are a fan of a hidden gem. And also if you want to start a discussion on who's the better character between Takasugi and Kamui then I'm all ears.

I just expressed my wish to see my fav character to have more screentime in both comedy and him being on the good side now but to no avail. Nonetheless, shortly, my opinion is my opinion and your opinion is yours, I can like Kamui and dislike Takasugi for my very own reasons all I want and nothing can force me to change it because it's an opinion. If you hate it, you should have just ignored it, they are fictional characters anyway.

Nah it ain’t anywhere near as bad as Fate, the series is purposely not in chronological order so u skip around the timeline a lot but the watch order is pretty much just release order minus three movies which slot it as a prequel, but dear lord Fates watch order is mad
