On the Swedish S1 you actually have to turn on the lubricator. But it’s actually because the locomotive have steam nozzles that spread the oil in the cylinders and not the actual lubricator.

Oh weird; is it like a hydrostatic? We have those on our engines for the air compressor and pistons on the small engines, which yeah you have to turn on... But not a mechanical haha

@@Hyce777 no it’s a mechanical lubricator but to lubricate better while not having the regulator open it has a nozzle that spreads the oil from the mechanical lubricator by using steam. This is the most modern steam locomotive built in Sweden. The class was built between 1952-53.

@@emilpersson8250 I've heard them called atomisers. When you have the cylinder drains closed it acts a bit like the regulator is slightly open when you have the reverser at low cutoff positions.

I swear they increased the “slosh factor” in this game at some point after Simulator. I never had any issues, then I blew up 3 engines in one weekend! Man, i wish this game had multiplayer, I always love seeing more train-based shenanigans with KAN.

This was fun! I wonder if "Race" could be a multiplayer game mode, or an event you could start - in CoS. From simple ones like "deliver already prepared cars from A to B", to more complex ones where you have to collect cars across yard A, deliver half of them to station B, pick up more cars there and head over to station C..

The lowest odds got it, no surprising results in this race but still oodles of fun! Hearing Smells Like Kenosha quietly getting added so we don't realize before it has really taken off, masterclass editing! Right up to the point where kAN went uh ohh, I was looking for any hints at Hyce's end for something going tits up, loved it! I dunno why, but every video gets better with a sprinkling of kAN, especially the flake salt flavor one... A hunger inside me has been sated, like the universe aligned correctly, I can taste it and it's oh so sweet! Please Sir, can I have some more please?

So, random fun fact on the downhill slope just south of steel mill into steel mill. I took a DH4 at max throttle with the gauge pinned at 90kmh going 97kmh through the steel mill on the downhill. The 80 is a suggestion. The 60 is a suggestion. The 50 is a suggestion. The 70 at the north end is not a suggestion. You should try it out and see just how spicy you can get it.

The lubricator in DV might not be very accurate, but it is used as a decent gameplay mechanic since it slowly uses up oil any time it's on, even if the engine is parked cold.

I noticed also how the blower raised the temp while moving. But the only time I used it was if I was running tonnage (or seemingly over) and I was going up a hill. I mostly just used the damper to control my fire temp and when I need more steam pressure to push the piston to overcome the weight, I get the fire has hot as I can without popping the safety and for some reason it seems to work. 😅😅😅

See at the beginning it was close but kan partly opened all the hand valves in the front of the first then did fire expirenced hyce but the in hole then did the hand valves plus he had the spirit of Kenosha paint job which is good for like +40 trarctive effort

Also if you choose to do this again maybe some kind of handicap for Hyce since the inherent advantage of running trains for a living was clearly on display with a 17 minute beeline. Maybe again with diesel and 2 jobs but Hyce cant MU the locomotives and Kan can use the remote. You can choose how many diesel locomotives you want but for Hyce more locomotives to balance would be more difficult and that might balance out the skill level

Don't know if somebody already said this here, argon is labeled hazmat cause it can actually kill you. If you breathe it in it kinda replaces oxygen and then just sits there and you cant breathe anymore. It's used in some tanks in the fire extinguishing systems and when they trigger, an alarm goes off and everybody leaves the vehicle, even in the middle of combat, because even a few seconds of exposure are enough to cause serious harm.

Run a double head S282 race with ~1600t of Coal to Steel Mill. You get the hill out of steel mill which I think you can just about manage with two S282 (acrobatics ensue). Then you get the corkscrew downhill testing brake handling, followed by high speed sprint to the line along the river. Though not sure if you can get one job of sufficient weight. If you get two jobs they'd need to both go to B3I, or the switching at the end gets dumb when you have to get half of your train backed up and pulled into A yard somewhere. Though dutch drop could be a strat :P It's bit more big league but it might make for good racing...

I give you credit hyce for knowing how to drive the S060 in Derail valley. I went through the tutorial and then later after a few days, I forgot how to start the train. Also I like the DH4 a lot.

Just be glad you haven't played a lot of CW stuff in TS, you can leave the throttle (regulator) in the roof and play with the Johnson Bar (Reverser) to get the best out of any engine. Such machines, like the Dunalistairs, love that kind of operation and WILL bite back if you so much as touch the regulator

I don't think he said DV is the best "simulator", but the best "game", so it intentionally sacrifices some realism to be more engaging and fun. From what little I've heard, Run8 is indeed a more accurate simulation, but is less of a game.

I mean, I get the water is presumably the best. Cheapest, cleanest, least likely to decide to eat things, least risky, best for the enviroment option...... but sure in theory anything that will boil would work right? Like..... booze..... fill the tender with booze, and run the engine (and possibly the engineer) on that.

Hyce why won’t you play RRO? It has received a lot of amazing updates recently they even added a new map and they added signs and props such as houses and buildings for more world building stuff and they allow you to select your starting locomotive now it has changed a lot since you last played I really do suggest trying it out again but what do I know I’m just a fan that absolutely loves your videos also it is nice to see you playing with kan again I missed your dynamic

Ooof, that missed switch at the edge of the canyon could have been bad! To be honest I was half expecting you to just continue through the wye and then go backwards to the steel mill afterwards on the other leg. And while I joke about it in your career playthrough, it is fun to watch the oil wells go BOOM! Although this one was a bit underwhelming.
