I saw him fly in Australia a few years ago - best I have ever seen.

This makes no sense to me, control-wise and aerodynamics/physics-wise 🤯

short version? each rotor in the prop can change which direction it is pushing almost instantly (within a few degrees of it's rotation) at any time, couple that with the 'copter having WAY more thrust than it needs to stay in the air and it can pretty much just twist and turn any way it wants and go any direction it wants from any position it wants with barely a regard for gravity. there still some occasionally rather unintuitive physics the pilot was navigating and a heck of a lot of skill required to keep track of orientation and actually control the machine but it all makes more mechanical sense than you'd think...did feel like they kept flipping between having fun and/or showing off and something more akin to a gymnast's routine complete with the precise scoring based on a 300 page rulebook and toe-pointing nonsense that makes that whole sport so disturbing and off putting and _somehow_ boring despite them pulling stuff off that is only barely physically possible.
