Subaru was born with a hole in her heart so she spent most of her childhood in the hospital, was hit by a car when she was young and flung 5 meters across the street, and her original family home burnt down which caused her to apply for Hololive as a way to help pay for a new place. Noel was raised in a poor home and had to wear hand-me-down clothes from her brother which she still does to this day as a habit. Kanata never met her father, her family wasn’t well off and she often went hungry, she has a condition that’s impacted her hearing in one ear and could make her completely deaf in that ear, and her mother was incredibly harsh on her for becoming an idol so she felt she had no other choice than to move out. Watame was rejected by her own father and if he got custody were something to happen to her overworked mother he would have dumped her off at an orphanage, and when she was young she was really mean to her grandmother who died before she could make amends with her. Rushia has only one main blood vessel to her brain so it renders her highly prone to anemic episodes. From the few times Gura has talked about bullying and depression it seems like she struggled with them before. Matsuri was harshly bullied throughout her childhood and young adolescence due to being overweight. Korone and especially Pekora and Aqua suffer from crippling social anxiety, so before Hololive they had almost no friends with Pekora at this point basically becoming a hikikomori (hermit) as on the stream where she introduces her mother both of then confirm she almost never leaves her room. Haachama was raised by her Philippino relatives in Australia for some time and was enrolled in a prison-like school by them. Marine used to work for a sweatshop with lots of forced unpaid overtime. Nene had an unarchived stream where she talked about her youth, and apparently because of her past she tries to be really upbeat and friendly so other people can smile. I’m sure some other Holo-girls have come from similar backgrounds, but obviously sharing a lot about their personal lives isn’t something they can do much of because of Cover being a Japan-based company and the idol ideology that the country has.
