A majority of people in the 70’s were riding superior Japanese bikes that became accessible to American markets due to reliability, safety, and comfort. I can’t speak to the 60’s because I haven’t really studied those bikes. But Not these garbage builds intended to make a statement. I ride 90 total miles a day to work and back. No need to cosplay as a 1%er.

It's not just that stuff either. I ride a TE150 and an XSR900. After a big trail day, I end up whiskey throttling my Yamaha once or twice before I get used to it again because the 150 has absolutely no torque down low and the XSR makes gobs of it. There's one dip in the road I always hit when going out and I have to be like "oh yeah I actually need to some discipline over my wrist to ride this thing" lmao
