"Machha Besara" is a famous recipe in Odisha in which fish is cooked in mustard gravy.Here Besara refers to mustard gravy & the preparation of this delicacy is very simple in which marinated raw fish is steamed with mustard gravy and dried mango to avoid its raw non-veg smell.Rice is the perfect combination with this delicious finger-licking recipe. ingredients:
Rohu/catla/Mrigal fish: 600g
masala for marination:
1medium sized onion
cloves of garlic:10-12
cumin : 1tsp
ginger- a small piece
turmeric powder-1/2 tsp
mustard oil:4 tsp
lemon juice-1tsp
Salt to taste
mustard masala:(3 tbsp)
mustard seeds:4tsp
cumin:1tsp
Poppy seed-1tsp
cloves of garlic:10-12 pieces
dried chillies:3-4 no.s
masala for tempering:
diced onion of 1 big sized
diced tomatoes of 2 medium sized
green chillies:3-4 no.s
panch phoron:1tsp
chilli powder:1 tsp
Salt to taste
sugar 1tsp
dried mango:1 or 2 pieces
mustard oil:4-5 tbsp
serve:3 person
preparation time:30 mins.
cooking time: 30 mins.
