Sir, that is not the correct way to insert the plastic part into the board, the plastic part should be inserted without the bolt, then the bolt is screwed into the plastic part which will cause it to expand in the material and grip inside the hole, by hitting it with a hammer like you did, you defeated the whole purpose of the plastic insert.
