Dear young lady you are endowed with beauty, grace & a voice that resembles that of the cuckoo,....your rendition potential for melodious music is equally fascinating & transcending ..please keep it up,.... may god bless you. it is one thing to get absorbed in the inimitable melody, & quite another to appreciate & get enthralled with Bhakthi Bhava..... a consummate comingling of both refinements renders our enjoyment of music ten fold.

@tattvabodhaka61404 жыл бұрын
Just to give you a gist (not a word to word translation but I will try to focus on the novel aspects of the song) : Background & Motivation : The song captures the highlights of Shri Purandara’s visit to Udupi. The structure of this song is unique and set as a mini travelogue. At the superficial level it may seem that Shri Purandara dasa is just stating the obvious of what he saw in his visit but infact , he is giving the listeners a beautiful travel itinerary that can be followed when she/he visits Udupi! An itinerary to maximise the value of her/his visit ! Now to the song itself, Shri Purandara says : I have finally witnessed the much celebrated Udupi Krishna, one who is known in this world for his ability to attract all! ||P|| [Here Shri Purandara beautifully translates the meaning of the Sanskrit word “Krishna” (which is Karshayati iti) or the one who attracts all ! ] Having seen the beautiful Malpe Sea/Beach and after having finished my bath and all the nityakarma activities (Pooja,Paata,Japa etc) , I bowed to the lotus feed of Shri Chandramouleshwara (at the Chandramouleshwara temple)! Later, I had the darshana of Shri Anantheshwara (at the Anantheshwara temple) and blissfully remembered the benevolent Hanumantha ! ||1|| [The pre Krishna darshan activities are explained here ! The activity of Krishna darshana is something more than visiting your favourite hangout place , one has to prepare her/his mind and body (by cleansing both of them and getting into the right devotional mindset ) thereby enabling him to get the best out of his brief moment with the lord ! This is more of an experience rather than a visit . First, one must pay her/his respects to the kshetra devatas (the gods of the particular land ) who are Shri Chandramouleshwara or the lord who is adorned with the moon on his head (Lord Shiva) and lord Anantheshwara (Lord Parashurama who inturn is Lord Vishnu ) thereby acknowledging your presence to the owners of the land. Later one must seek the blessings of and keep in mind the lord’s favourite devotee hanuman (who will recommend your requests to the lord and facilitate your entire process of the darshana)] I witnessed the streams of water all around , the (mesmerising) rays of the sun and/at the Madhwa sarovara (the temple tank )! After having seen the Ashta Matha Sanyasins I finally had the darshana of the much renowned and talked about Udupi Krishna ! ||2|| [The moment before Krishna Darshan (After having entered the temple ) : Here one must pay attention to and make himself aware of the architectural, spiritual and historical aesthetics of the temple while one waits for her/his turn to see the Lord! The temple tank (Madhva Sarovar) is a beautiful confluence of divine architecture and pristine nature. The ashtamata sanyasins (The pontiffs of the 8 monasteries) are a reflection of the Udupi Temple’s 800 year old rich history ! They are the ones closest to the lord whom we can catch a live glimpse of today ( as they are the only ones who have dedicated their lives to directly offer Pooja to the lord turn by turn , every sanyasin for two years each) ] Those rings on his finger , his magnificent waist thread , his opulent Navarathna necklace studded with precious stones of various colours are a pleasure to watch! Finally I am indeed blessed for having got a glimpse of his lotus feet which are in swift motion as I see him (Purandara Vittala) gracefully dance to the divine tune ! ||3|| [Finally the Krishna Darshan : The genius of Shri Purandara’s composition lies here ! First he highlights the beauty of the idol , the ornaments adorning the charming idol of Lord Krishna and concludes by highlighting his vision of the Lord in his actual form , who is adorned by exactly the same ornaments and is seen dancing joyfully! The take away here is that one must not look at the idol as a stone but have the reverence of considering it as a representation of the lord himself ! One must look at the value of the idol and move beyond the concept of considering it as just another stone ! The parallel he draws here is through his description of the ornaments ! The ornaments themselves are by nature , nothing more than mere stones ! But nevertheless, they are valued for their very unique qualities , same is the case with Udupi Krishna, an idol which is said to have been given by Krishna himself to Rukmini Devi (when Rukmini requested Krishna to give her a glimpse of his childhood form / activities which she had missed witnessing) after which it was duly worshipped by Rukmini Devi and Arjuna during Dwapara and by Shri Madhva and all his disciples in this Yuga ! ] Hope this motivates you to visit Shri Krishna Mutt at Udupi and experience the lyrics of the song first hand ! 🙏

I was surprised to see so many comments about how she looks, and obviously she is. But if you hear without looking you can feel the overly done attention to just the pyrotechnics with swaras and no bhava actually that fits the words. Sorry to be negative but its a case always with her singing, Not to compare apples to oranges but just the same listen to Ranjani Hebbar to feel the devotion and bhava in the devaranamas
@GopalanSampath4 жыл бұрын
Prashanti S you certainly have a preference, but be graceful and for god’s sake stop commenting negatively! Each singer portrays bhava differently !
