Heirloom weapons are getting weaker... (Apex Legends)

►The general trend with care package weapons in Apex is that they're getting worse, and I think it's on purpose. Long gone are the days of the super busted Mastiff and Kraber in the package, nowadays it's usually just strong versions of meta guns from a previous season. The last remaining "strong" care package weapon is the Kraber. I think Respawn is probably trying to lessen the giant power spike a team gets from getting a super care package weapon.

I like the change. Having the carepackage weapons be weaker means that you can up their spawnrates and not be faced with major consequences. I don't feel like the spitfire is out of the loot rotation anymore, I just feel like it's a weapon I don't pick up much. I don't have to deal with 3 seasons of not using the alternator or the scout, 2 of my favorite weapons, anymore. It's a really good change imo. Also from a competitive standpoint it makes the game more fair, having standardized, slightly stronger weapons to use in the lategame that are just that little bit better getting through red shields is better than one team randomly having a super weapon that kills everyone without trying.

They’re not purposely trying to make the care package weapons weaker they’re just changing them out every season to see what sticks, like the alternator fits great in there especially cause there’s so many smgs. They upped the spawn rates of the guns not cause they’re weaker but cause people were complaining about never seeing them especially cause there’s four weapons in there now so the likelihood of seeing the specific gun a person wants went down artificially. The scout is gonna come out after a season or two and eventually they’re gonna get it right and throw the mastiff back in there cause that thing is pure garbage on ground loot

I love the package G7 scout but man does it run out of ammo so fast. I won a game with one of a round 1 rip and held it till end of 6. I was conserving ammo like crazy the whole time which is what made it feel unfun.

Thing only shreds ammo if you spamfire and miss a lot or run it on burst. I suggest with scout not giving a shit about ammo though and just finding another carepackage weapon before you run out, they're pretty common now.

Crypto should be able to switch the drone between follow and search mode. Ping a location and the drone goes there and circles. Drone needs to be faster too. He can afford it due to the power of other recon legends now

I have said this before but; I can see some passionate discussions about what should go in/out of the carepackage, I assume become people have favourite weapons not because they are the best, but because they like them, so when they go in the carepackage that makes them sad. So what if, carepackage weapons were on a weekly rotation, like carefting.

Kraber and alternator are power weapons, but the other two are a step below. Nerf the spitfire put it on the ground. Revert G7 to the way it was. Put the devo with turbo charger back in and possibly return the mastiff to the way it was in the early seasons. Maybe buff the bow and stick it in there to clear arrows from the loot pool?

G7 super crazy. You can down someone from range in like 2 seconds. Spitfire super crazy. You can wipe an entire squad with one mag from range, and that's ignoring rampart. Devo in carepackage would be a nightmare bc that gun is carepackage strength rn just SUPER HARD to use, only way to make it carepackage is increase usability and that would make late game a nightmare. Mastiff is the meta shotgun rn, it will not go into carepackage bc it would disrupt the game too much. While you could put bow in, arrows are really rare in the lootpool already and I can't see anyone ever picking it up bc it's firing mechanic is fundamentally super difficult. Also consider that the reason they're getting nerfed is so they can be more common and more standard, instead of this crazy random lucky boost that just helps you win the game in 3 seconds.

Quite like the idea of the bow being care package. Gives you a unique long (Kraber), medium (bow) and short range (Mastiff) set that hits hard but takes a bit of skill to use. And as you say, it removes arrows from the loot pool. Keep those three as basically permanent and maybe rotate the fourth option.

I don’t think care package weapons should be auto win weapons. I like having slightly stronger guns that give you an advantage but not one so big your team can’t lose anymore. The care package mastiff use to be a monster the Kraber is still the Kraber and I’m scared to fight someone with an alternator. I think the weapons rn are just fine. Only thing I would swap would be the G7 for a decked out devotion

Dude, I had conversation like this a while ago where I said "I miss the Spitfire, but like seriously why did they out the G7 inside the care package? I love the G7, but it's not stronger than the Flatline. You'd get more excited over the Flatline and the Flatline has more potential than the G7." The spitfire is a laser, the alternator is a melter, the kraber is a "o f***!" -er , and the scout is ok. I think the scout is the only care package weapon that doesnt belong in there edit: I think what respawn is doing is making care package weapons a bit weaker and more often cause as they add more weapons they will need to put more weapons into packages to not over saturate the loot pool.

Crazy to think that back then we didn't even have evo shields such that nearly everyone had purple or red late game. TBH, going back to when players were weaker would help the overall feel of the game in many ways. No amount of skill, planning, luck etc can stop a trio of red shields if you're down to playing solo. Back in the day, you stood a chance of winning those 3v1 cause they'd be like two blues and a purple.

Agreed 1000%. Mastiff used to hit for something insane like 277, it was the kraber of shotguns. The current alternator is weaker than it was when they originally dropped disruptor round. The og ground loot peacekeeper did more damage than it's care package version.

Pretty sure the Mastiff didn't hit for anywhere close to 277hp. Think it was more like 120hp. However, it fired and reloaded fast, and its spread fire makes it much easier to get decent damage without being perfectly accurate. That's also why the PK was such a bad care package weapon: it did no more damage than the Mastiff but shot slower and required you to be much more accurate. Dunno what they were thinking ever taking the Mastiff out of care package, and putting the PK in.

Put the Mastiff back in care package permanently, just like the Kraber is always there - having a long range and short range weapon that are to be feared adds a fun variety to the game and simplifies the shotgun meta. Arguably the L-Star should also go in, keeping a nice trio of quirky long, medium and short range weapons. Quite honestly, I'd be happy with just that but you could maybe vary the fourth in the way they've been doing - the alternator has been a particularly fun addition.

I kinda see what you mean, but I don’t know if I agree. If any one those weapons were ground loot in that state, they’d be nasty and at least some of them would be overpowered. The Scout is probably the most meh and I can see the argument there more, but I do think double tap can shred, and just in general the improved damage is nice. But yeah, you agreed in the video that Kraber and Alternator are so good, no explanation needed there, and c’mon, pre-nerf Spitfire is disgusting. Honestly carepackage weapons should be overpowered and be a high risk high reward thing that should normally be contested. I feel like there should be more of a warning where a carepackage would spawn and take slightly longer to drop after the location is revealed to give teams time to rotate towards it and then make it so you are guaranteed at least 1 carepackage weapon, no more attachments and purple armor drops. If its gonna drop armor it should be red honestly. Make them more valuable and with more of a warning to allow teams to rotate towards it. Teams would start to actually fight for it and contest packages like they should. Next is make it so every carepackage weapon is overpowered like package PK, mastiff, devo, the alternator is good things like that. This one is a maybe but also make it so recons can see where the next drop is and since all carepackages are now very strong make it so only 2 spawn ring zero and only 1 per ring afterwards. Right now packages can be strong but its too RNG if you are gonna get purple armor or a scout or actually something worth going for which is partially why people dont rotate for it.

I agree with kandy but I feel like they have to put the weapons they do in the package because they cant put everybody's favorite guns (i.e best guns in the game) in the care package because itll upset too many people now that they cant get it so often. Although I feel it would bring a certain offset to the meta bringing rise to other weapons which would be best for the game in my opinion.
