Bunzaemon:
He was a merchant in the Edo period. One year, there was a bumper crop of tangerines in his home homeland of Kinokuni but the road to Edo was blocked by a storm. As a result, the price of tangerines in Edo skyrocketed, while the price of tangerines in Kinokuni slumped. He took notice of this and risked his life to cross the stormy sea and deliver the tangerines to Edo.
However, there is no data to indicate that this is true, and it's possible that this is just a rumor.
Incidentally, his voyage has been made into a folk song called "Kappore".
"Oki no kurai noni shiraho ga mieru are wa kinokuni mikan~" is a quote from the song.
