Today in Zeepkist I built a track where every 1000 feet the bumps get worse. This track starts off easy but good luck if you think you will finish it.

game or movie themed. like build old double screen donkey kong using rocks as barrels. could even have a vertical one as background where ladders show the real passages.

At 96 repetitions of 16 units, with a unit being a meter, each section is 1536 m. 1000 feet in turn is 304.8 m. This track is more than 5 times as large as Kan intended to be. This man was an engineer.

Phd. Engineer Math: - "One block is 16 units" - "Each section is 96 [blocks] long" - "And I figured one section (sic) is close to 10 feet" (10 = 16, got it) oh, actually 1 unit is 1 meter. - "Okay, so one section is 960m then" (96 * 16m = 960m, got it)

Likely it wasn't actually based on anyone's actual foot length, but for a very long time kings would set their standard 'foot' length for units of measurement. Interestingly enough, inconsistencies in the length of a "foot" were the reason that the Vasa sank at launch.

Wait a second though...Is the speed accurate to the size of each block? If you made a track that had exactly 3333 road pieces in a straight line, and a booster than instantly got you to 200 KPH, and you never did anything to slow down, would the track take exactly 1 minute?
@bleachedkill
@bleachedkill Жыл бұрын
It would take 1 minute to get to the last checkpoint, but not the finish. 3 checkpoints + finish. So probably 1 minute 20 seconds?
@benjaminfranklin329
@benjaminfranklin329 Жыл бұрын
No, it would be 208 road pieces, each piece is 16m long. The math works out pretty well with the track above. At 96 pieces per section with 4 sections the total length was 16*96*4 (6144m) which would take 1:50 at 200, obviously this doesn't account for the starting acceleration or the extra distance covered by air time or the slightly above 200 speed for most of the downhill.

@brutace9219
@brutace9219 Жыл бұрын
@@Mikemk_ it's 3300 ft. You can check in two ways, simply check 1 km in ft or go by km-miles-feet. 1 mile is 1.6 km, 5280 ft is 1 mile, so 5280/1.6. Not sure how 5000 ft would be 1 km when 5280 is 1 mile and a mile is 1.6 km. Side note, if anyone wants a simple way to remember km to miles, remember 100 km is 60-62 mph.

Any system of measurement that has no single conversion factor is definitely oppression units. On the other hand, base 10 is just as silly as inconsistent conversion factors, because 10 has only two prime factors, which leads to all kinds of nasty repeating fractional forms. We need base 12 numbers and a base-12-based measurement system (yes, like inches and feet, but like nothing else in "freedom" units)... base 12 isn't perfect either, but it's better than base 10. Let the arguments begin!

So if its 96 sections of 16 meters, thats almost 1600 meters, which is about a mile. So the whole track is 4 miles, and you're going 200kph, which is 120mph ish, the math checks out that it should be 2 minutes

I wonder if there’s a height difference in game with your wheels on and off. If so, you could make a ‘look ma, no hands’ track that requires a skidding finish by putting an oblong checkpoint just before the finish.

Doing the math, each grid is 16 m and Kan went 96 grids. 16x96= 1536 m. That turns into 5039 ft. So each segment is almost a mile long. If you wanted to be true to the title, each part would be 1/5 the length which would have made ~24 second long track.

he explained in another video, I think it was one of kosmo's, that he was at a conference of game devs and they were chatting about their steam numbers, and apparently their "conversion ratio", of wishlists to purchases. The other devs were giving him a hard time because while he''s got good metrics for purchases, his conversion ratio was garbage, so he's half joking half serious when he says to wishlist as it's to try and boost that metric up. EDIT: just watched the end, they give the short version of this in the last 5 seconds of the video.
