This track is the moment where the dev decides to implement some sort of CRC on the track files to catch fake validations.

Obviously that is not gonna work, you always have to trust the user, it is literally impossible to make a fool-proof system if you have to trust user input

The only kinda option is that you must upload a “demo”(series of moves that completes the track), and the server must verifys it by replacing those moves

@@rogervanbommel1086 adding even a basic CRC to the track files is probably enough to stop most people from changing the validation flag from "false" to "true". The game could do the CRC on map load and if there's a mismatch with the CRC as stored in the file, the game would know that the file's been fiddled with and thus not trust the validation time. Forcing the author to complete a validation run. The people who would go out of their way to reverse engineer the CRC on the track files of Zeepkist would be a special breed to begin with.

@@rogervanbommel1086 that only works if the physics are deterministic, which from what I've seen of Zeepkist they aren't. Also even with deterministic physics and a demo that is verified by "the server", that does nothing to stop people from using TAS to complete validation. Right now this can't be done, because the physics aren't deterministic.

Knowing the Devs can lead to so many interesting things in software. I had a couple teachers in college with fun stories where they developed or modified software for POS systems and left easter egg notifications in them for coworkers and friends.

Rather than you got banned, it's more like Yannic starts his own KZbin channel where he posts videos of your tracks and it's just an entire series called, "This maniac is the inspiration of the X0 track." You think you're paying him back, but really all you're doing for him is stress testing things for him so he knows what to put in the next X0 track.

I wonder if the devs would consider having 2 types of track validation... Author Validated, and Community Validated. Author validated would basically be exactly what's in the game now, but now it only allows the author to invite other people to play the track. Community validated would be where at least 10 other players (author not included) have to complete the track, and this would make the track available to the general public. This change would save server space, as the tracks would not be permanently stored on the server unless it has been Community Validated. If a track fails community validation, then it would then be deleted from the server's memory space until the next time the author hosts the track.

The problem with this is if the game got enough traction that people wanted truly hard levels. Look at Mario Maker, where they just had a community effort to clear all the (possible) uncleared levels in the game before the servers shut down. People loved trying the insanely hard courses, yet only one or two people ever truly beat them.

But I'll also say I'm sorry if you in any way felt berated by comments on these videos about the order of the videos, that was not my intention and I hope that wasn't the intent of everyone else who wanted these videos in sequence. Longer comment from me on the topic on Kosmo's video, because I forgot to copy that text. That was an art installation of a track, and I agree fully that transitions would be a better name. Hey Dapper, I like your content. What makes these cooperations so hard to watch is that you all upload at different times. Can you synchronize that and link the other videos? That's a hard ask. Every person has a different editing process as well as their own upload schedule and breaking from that can cause issues, to put it mildly. The best they could do is post a filler, then edit up the current video. Then two of the three sit on it until the last one is done editing and finally all post at once. All of this assumes that they don't run into problems during editing.
