Kangaroo and Paratrooper Tribute - Kennywood

A collection of clips from Kennywood's Kangaroo and Paratrooper attractions. Following the outcry over the removal of four rides, the Kangaroo was announced to return to the park in 2022 after a year's absence.

Why would Kennywood remove these rides! They are amazing and I will never forget as a child riding them!

What will they be doing with Kenny the Kangaroo? Also I remember that the Paratrooper was there before 1976. It was called the Skydiver. When it was first installed it was across from Noah's Ark. It was also where the candy shop and lockers are by the tunnel entrance to the park.

Do you by any chance remember what year the Skydiver was in that spot?

I remember that it was the very first year that it was in the park. One point, there is an older ride called paratroopers. That one was on a slant. Skydiver starts flat then goes up. That was there before Skydiver was installed. I know it was there before 1976, Because we moved from Lincoln Boro. Pa. to Florida in 1967. And I remember riding it for at least 2 seasons before we moved. So I would say around 1964-1965. I wish I could be more exact. Then they moved it from there to the area right by the tunnel. That area by the tunnel had several rides. I remember the Laugh in the Dark, The Old Mill, the Rock and Roll (I think some other parks call it the Rock o Planes. The Rollo Planes were near by. That first area to the left as you were entering the park was home to several different rides. Skydiver. It was The spot where the Kangaroo was originally installed. Other rides that spent some time there was The Rodeo, and Rotor.

That was where Skydiver was the very first year. I think it opened in the middle of the the very first year. Around June or July.
