So I went through this torturous sequence, taking the entire system apart (including the titanium/platinum plates), and I soaked the plates in citric acid / CLR / vinegar for 10 hrs. I rinsed them, and dried them outside. I reassembled the SD501, flushed it, checked for leaks, all good. I made an entire video that I will need to edit and upload. But then...after turning it on, I still get the dreaded "Notice of cleaning." I was ready to take a hammer to the machine. So I personally think there's something wrong with the logic board, whatever is deciding that the plates are still dirty. I don't know. And good luck finding ANYTHING on the web that allows you to do your own maintenance. So I will eventually figure this out, and post my findings for ALL to enjoy. Thanks Steve for the incentive to do this.

Did you repace the cartridge?

@@theruckusdj I don't understand what you mean by cartridge. Are you referring to the charcoal filter?

@@theruckusdj Yeah it's a generic filter that was working fine for a month. I put the older filter back in, but still having that "Notice of Cleaning" message. My Kangen is 14 years old (given to me). Not sure what the next steps are. I read somewhere that the titanium/platinum plates last about that long. So maybe time for a new unit...

Do you remember what size the o-ring was? I think we have the same problem and I wanted to get the replacement part before taking the machine apart. Thanks for doing an awesome job on the video!

Hey Steve, I kept getting that "Notice of cleaning" error all the time. I did the flush. I bought a transfer pump, I used citric acid and cycled for many hours. Still that error. I took apart the Kangen, pretty easy, but I found a white ball that dropped out from the bottom. I'm not sure where it goes, thinking possible one of the bottom tubes, but I have no idea, and I can find nothing on the internet. No IPB, and no manuals. They surely keep their systems very secret. Let me know if you know. I don't know how serious it is to NOT have that white ball go where it needs to go. I was filming myself with an Insta 360, but the video isn't clear enough to see where the white ball dropped from. It definitely came from the bottom of the unit. Maybe it stops one of the tubes from dripping?
