You want support but you can't tell your audience accurately what the facts are, Nigeria is not building railine in Niger for there benefit in long term it will benefit Nigeria more, do you know Niger receive containers from the ghana ports? So imagine if they start doing that from Nigeria and with even ease through the trains which terminates not even far inside the city centre and it will provide alot of foreign exchange for Nigeria which currently goes to Ghana. Ghana is planning on building a railine to Burkina Faso too due to same reason..make una the think well

Many Nigerians do not realize that Africa pre-2021 in different from Africa post-2021. Why? Because all 54 Africa countries have signed AfCFTA Agreement to open all borders (road and rail) in particular for economic cooperation and integration. In view of this, all countries in Africa will have handshake of rail and roads so as to make it easier for Africans to move easily from be country to the other. Therefore, in Nigeria, the two lines going to the North will have handshake with NIGER and CHAD. While the ones in the South will have handshake with BENIN REP. and CAMEROON. People should wake up to this realities and adjust accordingly.

If the rail line is extended all the way to Lagos, it will be great ang easily pay for it's cost, but if it's left only as Kano-Maradi then it's not very smart. Going by the track record of this government on infrastructure, I believe it will be completed.

The money for the rail line should be deducted from the monthly allocation to those states through which the line passes.
@NedMedia3 жыл бұрын
Why? It's a federal project. Will they transfer ownership to the states?
@oceejekwam68293 жыл бұрын
@@NedMedia The project has gone over budget. In the light of a pressing economic situation. The money must be "clawed back". Those northern states receive more than they give. They are the primary beneficiaries of this line. Yet the burden must be shared. It's bad enough the president ran begging for a loan to construct it. If that isn't bad enough he ran begging for another loan and everyone is expected to bare that burden too. Even a blind man can see that is a clear abuse of the system in favour of "his kith and kin". If he decides to beg for another loan for the same purpose is that ok? Is there any accountability? Can the finance minister count?
@NedMedia3 жыл бұрын
Look at it from a business perspective, the government will make money from passenger and freight trains on this line. The Nigerian Customs will have an inland container terminal in Niger, which will make Nigeria control imports/exports there. In terms of priority, there are other lucrative lines they should have built before this one, that would generate moooore money than this one.
@oceejekwam68293 жыл бұрын
@@NedMedia No doubt there are more lucrative lines. The fact this suspect line has already gone over budget should sound alarm bells. The president shouldn't be allowed to borrow any more money, even if it's to reward his "brothers and sisters".

The investment Nigeria government is making by taking the rail line to Maradi is important and good for Nigeria economy. The invested amount is less than 15% of total cost of the overall cost from Kano however the foreign exchange Nigeria will earn from Niger republic will pay for the entire project in less than 10 years.
@NedMedia3 жыл бұрын
It looks like it's even less than 10%, anyway thanks for your insights👍🏽
@benakor85753 жыл бұрын
@@NedMedia Yes it is less than 10%, the rail mile to be built in Niger is just 25 miles out of 284 miles, in fact this may encourage the Niger govt to build their own rail from Niamey to Maradi. Either way, it will still be cheaper and faster for Niger businesses to transport their products through Maradi.

@RandomMZ14123 жыл бұрын
@@tobbsbrown50 Because Lagos to Kano is about 1000km. Given how long it took to build lagos to Ibadan and Abuja - Kaduna, 15yrs in total at an average of 26.2km per year. If you minus what has already been built, which is 157km lagos - Ibadan and 210km Abuja - kaduna and divide the remainder by 26, it will take 24 years to complete. That is just laying the rails. Factor in the stations, political will, Delays due to elections and change in government, the next criminal in charge that might want modify the contract to his own benefits, African time, dancing and singing that must happen per every location, security and local people appeasements, My friends, this might take longer to 50yrs
