This is the number one step to taking Nigeria's growth forward, in addition to the free-trade zone in Lagos, if done efficiently across our country, along with good leadership and budget allocation to modern education(tech), and power generation, we can shoot up and probably double our economy in less than a decade. Privatisation of the railroads while providing subsidies will have a good chance of hastening it's development.

@Yadirichukwu Anyankah...A step that should have been taken decades ago. Nigeria is far behind compared to what one should expect of Nigeria on paper with all the oil and gas wealth. How is the so-called ''giant of Africa'' still an underdeveloped and underperforming country. A station like this should have been built all across Nigeria by Nigerian engineers. I guess Nigeria's Brain drain is a clear indication even Nigerians don't believe in their own country.

I love the fact that China is Piloting these rail projects....they don't care about their immediate recuperation of their money....as long as the country is potentially worthy, they will invest in it, I'm glad Nigeria has been a big part of the "belt and Road initiative" Nigeria is a great country with huge potentials, its only infrastructure like these that can help us realize these potentials and make the optimal use of them.

@@solomonobihan9465 my bad, but global power is long way though. there's alot of contenders for the global power spot. there's only 3 right now, us china and russia. sub saharan africa doesn't have alot of competitors, so the odds are good. however, your region doesnt have much strategic value, and currently economic values. economically ur region will probably become more influential, but strategically it's not as important as say india

Lots of CIA bots in the comment section. Nigeria borrowing money from China or any country is no one’s business. Nigerian government needs to create a business friendly environment and improve electricity infrastructure that will spur industrial growth and create many jobs. I know Chinese companies are also in charge of some hydro power projects. Nigeria contacted Germany Siemens to help with electricity infrastructure but an agreement have not been reached. These People in the comment section need to mind their own country’s problems.

True. A lot is happening in Nigeria, a rising African power. The Belarus govt just contracted a Nigerian armoured personnel carrier manufacturer, PROFORCE, to supply it with APCs and mine resistant vehicles, all made in Nigeria by Nigerian engineers. Nigerian billionaire, Aliko Dangote also just completed the world's largest single train oil refinery in Lagos, which will position Nigeria as the top supplier of petroleum products to African nations, and a major world supplier.

Good to see finally Nigiera improving their infrastructure & economy. The white man will never help you. The Chinese may make some profit from it, but it will improve the lives of the people. It will reduce corruption. Just look at country's like Bangladesh & how far their nation has improved from the 90s, 00s, 10s. In 30 years, it's become modernised & created legitimate jobs for people. Doesn't the commentary itself say that MOST of this network was built pre-independence (guess who by !), but that investment then stopped (i.e. under Nigerian control), that said I'm pleased to see modernisation is now getting underway now ... you need to be constantly investing in infrastructure, always ! @@solomonobihan9465 So my (1979) altas of world railways is wrong, when it says the system then also carried approx 9-million passengers a year, as well as 4-million tons of freight ? Few if any railway-systems are built solely for passengers IME, freight is almost always the main commercial justification, for the massive capital-investment needed.

In short, China has few competitors when it comes to infrastructure projects in Africa. The reason is very simple. If China claims to be the second in the world in terms of infrastructure strength, no country in the world would dare to claim that they are the first.

@@tochivictor1846 because they usually have to pay dividend or increase share prices. they do that by not investing in the infrastructure that is less/ not profitable. we had more rail km 100 years ago then we have now, because the Deutsche Bahn shut down thousand of rail km that were not profitable, cutting of hundreds of cities/villages. in Berlin we privatised the water infrastructure and a lot of housing. private companies did not invest but always kept rising prices. we now have bought alot of it back into the state to stop this.

Infrastructure is always a good start in any economy. All the loans should be clear of conditions other than for the building of infrastructure projects. Be careful with the western loans with conditions that limit where and how to spend the money. And beware of all the western hypocrisy that use the loans as political blackmail.

Nigeria is really trying in terms of rail development in Nigeria from Lagos to other part of the country. This will really have a positive effect on the country GDP after completion of the massive railway. State like Lagos alone is building more than 10 railways terminal in the state this will really help state like Lagos to reduce traffic and less cars will be on the road while government will be happy and smiling to the bank. I have independently film all the train station on my channel to support the government in promoting many of this infrastructure development to the world. Every advance country consider railway transportation because it is mass and cheap so every develop country consider investing in rail transportation. Thank you for this video!

Good developing of railway. Its critical provide conditions so that they are secure. Recent Attackers of the train Must be punished in public hearing & show the bandits they cant escape. Nigeria has a new massive Train coach assembly and manufacturing plant at the final stages of construction right now, in Lagos Nigeria...it has all the spare parts and trained manpower needed.

@@interestingthingstoknow8975 Actually the plant is in Kajowa, Ogun state, a couple hrs by road from Lagos. It's a huge manufacturing plant that will employ 5,000 Nigerians, and supply train wagons and coaches to the railway network, and to other African countries.

At present there are over 5,800 Bullet trains connecting over 600 cities in China. And in India, they are still trying to build just one(1) I recently heard, they've abandoned this project. Just boasting won't cut it.

I love trains best, transportation method. Really efficient and a good economy of scale and it environmentally friendly. There just better than cars. Did you know I like trains, great stuff. Also why is there no tram in my city, that makes me sad.

China help to provide loan for under developing country to build infrastructures like railway, port, road, hospital and school. Other rich country help and fund to build biological weapons labs for poorer country. Ukraine biological weapons lab is a good example.
