I was in college when this tune came out and it thrilled me and still does. Me and my friends would go drive around, smoke a joint , and crank this tune up and just rock out. Awesome, and for me it stands the test of time.

When "Carry On My Wayward Son" was released in '76, I was almost 15 years old and had just moved to Reading, Pennsylvania. Both of the area's AOR FM stations: WYSP & WMMR played this song in heavy rotation. One of my favorite hangouts back then was a particular bowling alley. Although they had 32 Lanes, I went there to hang out with friends, meet girls, shoot pool, play pinball and hear great songs like "Carry On My Wayward Son" from Kansas and a wide variety of other Rock hits, all ready to be selected and spun up from the jukebox within the billiards area. Kansas' tunes fit right in with those from Styx, Foreigner, Journey, REO, RUSH, Aerosmith, Black Sabbath, Zepplin, the Stones, Ted Nugent and all the other great bands of the time. I'm 60 now and it seems most of the bands I grew up on from the 70's and 80's, have either already faded away, are fading currently, retired or are almost, or basically, have simply aged out of the music scene. Very few bands can endure, thrive, prosper and make it for 50 years. But, Kansas is one of those bands. Thanks for the tunes, the hits and the memories as I saw Kansas in concert twice: On June 30, 1996, they opened for Styx in Nashville, Tennessee at the Starwood Amphitheater -- the concert ticket was just $21.00. I caught them again at a Free Concert on May 23rd, 2003, in Charlotte, North Carolina at the city's annual Speed Street NASCAR festival. It looks like I have an opportunity to see them live one more time here in 2023. Kansas' concert cities available to me include: Huntsville, Alabama, Atlanta, Georgia and Charlotte, North Carolina.

I've been a Rocker since the '73 -'74 time frame and have seen 198 live performances, primarily all from the great Rockers of the 70's & '80's that shaped and made Rock what it is. I'm almost 61 now and just like the iconic, legendary bands from the 70's & 80's that have slowed their touring pace, I too have 50 years in the game and thus, my pace of going to concerts has slowed down some as it kind of matches my own aging over time. I'm not complaining though. I've been to 96 concerts so far since my first (KISS in '78 at the Spectrum in Philly) to most recent (Billy Joel in 'Nov. '22 in Atlanta) and have great seats for the upcoming April 15th REO concert in Birmingham. As long as the founding fathers of my time come reasonably close to me, I'll do my best to see them. All of the concerts I've been too - chronologically listed and including the pertinent details of Headliners, Opening Bands, Dates, Cities, Venues, Ticket Price Paid as well as photos of my tickets / ticket stubs (I've saved almost all of them, including KISS in '78) are listed, viewable and searchable on the 100% Free, user generated, Concert Archives website at ConcertArchives.Org/RickyRacer If interested, I hope you'll take a look at my Rock Concert History. And blessed , I've never counted my stubs, but I know the ones I'm missing, I'm the youngest of 5 so my brothers and sisters involved me in their music and trips to concerts and events, I love your story and passion, it reminds me of my family and friends and myself ha . The journey of the wayward son fits today with the USA citizens (losing sanity) turning against our great land of liberty -- even with all her issues -- America is still the greatest country on the planet. The recording is horrible. The sound for this video sounds unprofessional, like someone used their smartphone as the recording device. This ruins the song. I know the band can do this song really well on stage, but you have to have better equipment to make a great video. I also noted that there is a missing member from the original band, in particular, the lead singer. The new one is not even close to as good. And the violins are missing as well. Without that, Kansas has lost some of the best parts of their sound.

@@zeketrick You did the best that you could with what you had on hand. Unfortunately, smartphones need some better sound tech to do high quality recordings. Not your fault. The other issues are of a personal preference nature. Being the owner of an original cut album by Kansas called 'Leftoverture', it's understandable that I compare any other recordings of the same songs to what is on that album. It sets the sound standard quite high, I must add. It has the unfair advantage of being hard to match, or outdo. And most of it was recorded live.
