What a killer song. It has everything you could want in an epic song... instrumental virtuosity, amazing arrangement, deep lyrics, incredible rhythms, harmonies, and out of this world lead singer. A+++

The personalities here crack me up when they're listening. Only seen a few videos from these guys, but this is what it usually looks like to me. CoreyRoy: Gets into the song immediately and is having a good time throughout. Fenom202: Takes several seconds, but he gets into it and enjoys it. OlliWooDDA: His expression is like "I wonder what's on TV later? I could be doing something else right now." Can never tell if he enjoys the song until he talks afterwards. Sometimes he nods his head to the beat just a tiny bit. Gotta listen to the whole video to see if he liked it or not. It cracks me up. Rock on, gentlemen!

In 1973 I went to my first concert with my boyfriend. We saw Hawkwind, and Kansas was their backup band. Never followed Hawkwind after that, but I've been a Kansas fan ever since and have seen them here in Milwaukee many times. We were just at their 50th Anniversary tour show a year ago in July. Members have changed, but the music is still superb. ❤🎻RIP Robbie 🎻❤️

Written by guitarist Kerry Livgren (the blonde guitarist), the song became the band's first Top 40 hit in early 1977. Wikipedia; "Carry On Wayward Son" was written after the band had completed rehearsals. Livgren, who perceived the song as being "beamed down" to him in full, in 2004 stated: "It's an autobiographical song. Parallel to my musical career I've always been on a spiritual sojourn, looking for truth and meaning. It was a song of self-encouragement. I was telling myself to keep on looking and I would find what I sought." Livgren was born again on July 25, 1979, and since 1980 recorded primarily as a Christian rock artist.

Unofficial theme song for the tv show Supernatural; since that show this song is forever Sam and Dean‘s anthem in my mind. Carry on Winchester brothers!! Kansas actually showed up in person to play this song one year at Comic Con at the Supernatural fan panel with the two actors from the show, Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles. They played this song at the start of new seasons to review what happened last season or when one of the brothers faced something really terrible it’s a show about two brothers who kill demons and hunt down evil creatures and literally go to Hell in their quest to avenge their parents’ deaths by an evil demon.

I still have the original vinyl as well as many other Kansas vinyls from the day. They are America's progressive rock group. It is a shame they are not in Rock Hall of Fame. This song is a carry over from the album, Masque, where the writer (guitarist Kerry Livgren who also wrote Dust in the Wind) was searching his soul for meaning. "Leftoverture" makes more sense when hearing the album "Masque" first. The title is a play on words that actually means what's left over from the previous album.

Back when they toured this album for some reason Kansas NEVER played in Nebraska. I lived there so a buddy and I had to go to Red Rocks Colorado(God's Cathedral). Very well worth the trip and a nice ride on a couple of Harleys with our girls. 300 miles each way with roughly $1 a gallon for gas on bikes. Hell yeah.😎😎 I've seen them since then with the new band members in Reno (Harrah's former outdoor venue) Still killin' it. I still have this LP./Album. "Point of Know Return" and "Dust in the Wind" are two other awesome songs from that era 45 years ago. They're still played on classic rock radio. One of the greatest prog rock artists of all time, Kansas had a consistent run of success throughout the 1970s. Three multi-platinum albums and four hit singles that decade, though, is only part of the story. Their blend of complex, symphonic arrangements (one of them even played the violin!), thought-provoking lyrics, muscular hard rock and a variety of other musical forms was particularly inventive. From intimidating prog rockers to accessible hitmakers, Kansas could certainly crank it out with the best of them but even then, it was always with an ambitious musicality that reached well beyond the riffs. - Loudersound (edited)
