Thanks for the UL, John Payne always gave a good performance in decent movies. And not forgetting Preston Foster and a great assortment of villains, Jack Elam, Neville Brand and Lee Van Cleef.
@ricardocantoral7672 Жыл бұрын
Payne didn't reach the highs of Brando or Tracy. However, I think he was above average simply because of his versatility. 99 River Street, Miracle on 34th Street, and The Razor's Edge. Those three alone would exhibit his considerable talent.

.. and bw film photography done by Masters. There is a trend on KZbin to colourisation of bw films. They just don't get bw film & its role in films. Colourisation just washes over all that Noir bw technique. Yes initially it is cheaper than colour but the film technicians used it too the full. Citizen Kane wouldn't be half the film in colour amongst many many more but the millennial generation just think bw is a fault along with the Silent movies.

It sure is a terrific film noir. I've been a rabid noir fan for over thirty years. I've always drawn parallels between this flick and the much later Reservoir Dogs....definitely Tarantino saw this a few times. Anyways, my problem with K.C.Confidential has always been the glaring plot flaw that Preston Foster , the dishonorable discharged cop, had access to one point two million in cash. So he sets up this intrinsically risky game of cat and mouse for a possible 25 per cent of the insurance company's loss ??! Maybe 75 Gees. I'm sorry , I've always felt that he could have hightailed it - waited for the dough to "cool", and lived happily -RICH - for the rest of his dishonorable life. Just "food for thought" to all you noir maniacs (like me)......JRS

This movie is AWESOME! I'm 13 minutes in and it is OBVIOUS where Quinten Tarantino got the inspiration for _*Reservoir Dogs*._ _Pulp Fiction_ was also inspired by Kiss Me Deadly (ie. the glowing briefcase). 13 minutes into this and now, Tarantino, while still a cinematic genius, isn't the "movie phenome" that he seems to be made out to be. *Before **_Reservoir Dogs_** there is *Kansas City Confidential.

@@allegra0 It is. and Eli Wallach was even better as Tuco than he was as Calvera in The Magnificent Seven. That was a performance for the ages. Leone was a master who was ahead of his time. If they went back now to judge The Good, the Bad and the Ugly and Once Upon a Time in the West against the other films released in those years, where would they stand but at or near the top?

@Cult Cinema Classics Thank you for uploading this nice crime movie. As to "... der versucht, geradeaus zu gehen, ...": I guess this is the literal translation of the (American)English original colloquial expression "who wants to go straight". The latter could perhaps be translated as "Ein Ex-Häftling, der keine krummen Dinger mehr drehen möchte, wird ..." (the German colloquial expression is "krumme Dinger drehen" - to grift; no longer krumme Dinger drehen/to quit grifting) oder "Ein Ex-Häftling, der ehrlich werden will" (who wants to become honest). Otherwise your translation is perfect, and that even includes the pretty complicated German punctuation (with those numeral commas) .
