Their mother is an absolute crackpot. Seriously. She has also ruined her son's life, she would force the twins onto him and NOT let him have a moment of his own. Do you know what that can do to a person? How it can massively affect their confidence and self-esteem. To feel overshadowed constantly. Cal loved his sisters that's easy to see, but his mom would make his sister's be in his prom photos. She made the twins be involved in his games. Like why? Let him have an achievement to himself.

Gwen wrote nasty letters to the doctors every year on the girls’ birthdays. Telling them how her girls are “kicking ass and taking names” because they lived another year past their life expectancy. Which I feel was uncalled for. The doctors were talking her what life would be like for the average child that had the same diagnoses as her daughters. Because they didn’t tell her…”your daughters will be unlike all the other children with microcephaly, they will outlive us all”. The doctor’s did the right thing when they told her what to expect. There was no need for her to send a “big FU” (as she called it) with a letter every year. And these girls suffered more in their lives than they enjoyed it. She would actually tell people that they are just like any other teenager…sassy and opinionated”….when you have severely disabled children like this, being delusional helps NO ONE. Least of all those girls.

Yeah, when you really do a deep dive into the blog and socials, you really understand how they weren't merely disable, but non-abled. They were offered no dignity and the mom made them look and seem more disgusting than they should have been. Those girls never hit any milestones and gwen refused them medication and chose the woo way... Until those children inevitably would need severe medical intervention. Of COURSE then medicine was ok for them. She's said holding them in a "holy experience" and how they could communicate blah blah... Their delusion about these children did nothing for them except gross people out, pushed the "typical" son aside and made up personalities for them all while using up resources for them which would never work for those children and could have gone to someone who could actually use it. She always lied to everyone and herself about their Dx and thought her children were an exception to the rule about people born with aspergine synthetase deficiency, which was their actual diagnosis... Yet she just kept trying to keep them the face of microcephaly when this and ALL of their other ailments were mere symptoms of the much worse problem.
@pillango7922 Жыл бұрын
It took me 5 desperate years to fall pregnant with my first child. I was over the moon when I finally passed the 12 week mark, when a fetus is more likely to survive. I had all the usual ultrasound tests and the scans were fine, up until about 28 weeks, when it was discovered that I didn’t have enough amniotic fluid. Even then, nobody told me that there could be a big problem, all they said that I might need a caesarean, because the baby won’t be able to turn into the birthing position. During the first 5 months of her life, my daughter was diagnosed with a coloboma in her left eye, which means that her eye didn’t develop. I was also told later she has microcephaly, although it is not as severe as for these poor sisters. At 11 she was diagnosed with autism and ADHD. Yet, she communicates in two languages and has such a sweet personality. She is otherwise healthy, hardly missed school with colds etc. But no matter how much we love her, life is often a struggle and her younger sister misses out on a lot of attention. I fell pregnant for the second time when my first child was 6 months old. At the time we had no huge concerns for the new baby, although I was monitored more carefully, having specific scans to check the development of the eyes, in case we have the same problems. Luckily, everything was fine. I am sure, the parents loved all their children, but boy... that brother must have missed out on so much.

Their sight & vision are perfect examples of how little brain function they have bc while their eyes & ears technically work, they don’t have the mental capabilities to process what they’re seeing & hearing. The little bit of instinctual function they do have is slowly regressing as well as their condition is degenerative.

The parents knew & admitted that they would never have the mental capabilities beyond that of a newborn. Their condition is degenerative so their mental function would actually regress from that. my cousin had a daughter with microcephaly. She was diagnosed during mid stage of pregnancy through ultrasound, the doctor advised her to get a medical intervention, but she insisted on giving birth. And our family thought it was the most stupid decision. Her daughter at 7 years old couldn't talk, walk , eat and needed constant care like an infant, like wearing diapers etc. The child cried a lot due to the brain issues. I think sometimes the most difficult and hard decisions can be the most right decision. @@paintingwithcammiebourke3984 yeah, he didn't "make the decision" for them, he just _gave them his input!_ the way so many of these people are _projecting_ is bonkers sometimes, wow tbh, were i them and _Lola_ had been born first, idk if i would've made the same decision - based on what her mom posted abt her, with her insomnia, given how agitated she often seemed to be, she was too small and fragile for even the children's hospital to dare put her under so she could have a more permanent feeding tube... to see what that kid went through and NOT give her credit for having determination?? it's hard to understand. but they had _Claire_ first... and Claire's quality of life was fine! a lot BETTER than many ppl with spastic quadriplegia because she WAS so small. she could easily be picked up and moved, carried everywhere, she didn't need adapted bathtubs or lifting equipment or anything! you could bring her on vacation, hiking, shopping, movies (unlike infants, she rarely cried), it's not difficult to bring her wherever you were gonna go anyway, and that makes a MASSIVE DIFFERENCE in these people's quality of life. but it was especially clear (even to strangers! her mom had a decent following on her blog) that Claire was fine because she was so chill and calm almost _all the time_ ... virtually everyone can, at the very least, communicate that they're uncomfortable or in pain, she was no exception. so, no, she couldn't walk or talk or eat, but she apparently didn't care at all abt that, she was rarely cranky and she was physically comfortable. having Lola was a _perfectly reasonable_ decision.

There’s a big difference between chronic pain, and having no idea where you are or what’s going on ever, being immobile, being cortically blind and deaf (because although you have working eyes & ears, there’s no brain to perceive sights & sounds), having less ability to engage with the world around you & function than a newborn. While I’m not discounting your struggles in life, the latter case is undoubtedly a horrible, painful, empty way to live; a life devoid of any quality. There is more to life than having vital signs, being spoon-fed like a newborn, and shitting. Please explain how that betrays a “lack of understanding of the disabled”? If I'm not mistaken I believe he has a 50/50 genetic chance. Both parents carried a recessive genetic condition and the odds of have 2 children is astronomical. The parents probably have 1/4 each to produce 50/50 odds of 3 children realistically 2 children both girls I might add. It even could be that the mother carries a high gene for 50 and the dad 1/4 since the son doesn't carry a dominant gene. Buy otherwise I'm guess he does carry the gene but the odds of finding another person who carries it is slim. From what I can remember in science is it takes 2 people with the same recessive genetic abnormality to produce a child with such a rare condition. Especially two children with the condition.

They are terrible. If you saw their videos (they got deleted now) you'd see they're using them for attention and making fun of them themselves, calling them gremlins etc.

Watch the worlds smallest ninja and then tell me they are good parents. Or maybe the one where she's bending Lola's finger back to make her cry. Ot the one where the dad is roughly shaking Claire's hands so it looks like she's rolling the dice.

These girls are just simply there. If you had a child in this condition, don't go and have another one if there's a chance of the next child being the same. It's sad.

Clorox Bleach that's what I was thinking. First child like that? I would keep them and then adopt others. If you know you have the potential, don't do it. That's selfish

Their eyes are completely blank, didn't you notice. I don't think that you're able to have thoughts without having a brain.

@@marlynlawson1202 However, pain does not require much of the brain at all to be felt, especially since pain has to do with the nerves themselves. They have enough of their brains to feel constant pain.

I consider myself pro-life, but these girls have no life. No quality of life at all. And, perhaps worst of all, they have no way to communicate if they were suffering and/or in pain. Termination is a merciful choice in cases such as these, in my humble opinion. The poor son-the only normal child gets ignored too, because his sisters require 24 hr care from the parents.

I find this perspective interesting, abortion should be a personal choice. Much like we should respect moms who do abort, we should respect those that dont. I wouldnt have made the same choice she did either time, but shes allowed her CHOICE.
@jillybean36885 жыл бұрын
Well then I guess now you are pro-choice Mary?
@ninam10615 жыл бұрын
You have no right to say when and in what circumstances its okay for others to abort or be forced to deliver a child. Everyone should choose what THEY think its best and what they can handle.
@Emma881785 жыл бұрын
Mary Smith “Pro-life” is truly just anti-choice. Women should have the right to do whatever they want to do with their own bodies, and no one else should have a say in it. If it’s not your body then you need to stay out of it.

At least it turns her son into an accepting loving individual who doesn't give a crap what you look like or what disability you have. Life would be boring if everyone was the same. Sometimes we learn from people with disabilities!

So they had a child who had a genetic disorder that meant that she wasn't living, she was surviving. And then they decided to have another child.. WHY? If you have a child with a genetic disorder then there's a 1/4 chance that your next child will have it too. Why put everyone trough it?
