KANTGET | A Short Film

KANTGET (2023) | Deen's a teenager from Cape Town, and like all his new friends, he just wants to get his feet in a pair of Nike shoes that they call “Kantgets”. But when getting the shoes costs more than just money, Deen and his friends all have to pay up.
KANTGET is a UCT Graduation Short Film we, the cast & crew, created between July and October 2023. The film finds its inspiration from the life experiences of young boys in Cape Town and is represented by those very boys, on screen.

There are so many small details I could mention from the visuals to the editing that really bring the film to life. But one of my favourite details is the colour grading especially when he shows his friends his ‘kantgets’ to then desaturating the visuals when his mother finds out. Amazing.

Spectacular film! I love the different film techniques and cinematography. A few stories used in one Epic film. So many teens and parents need to view this. My vote goes to Sakeenah and team. Let's take this one to Cannes!
