@janswhatsupdoc Thisssssss. Mega Evolution is undeniably the most beloved battle gimmick. With it returning in Z-A, I only wish it would stay for a while longer, even more than 2 generations. I give GAME FREAK credit for trying something new with new gimmicks so as to keep the gameplay from being stale since non-fans love calling it the same game every time, but many of us don't care. Megas were arguably the one change the series needed whilst any new changes could be for the overworld experience only.

Could be much better if they made them even slower. It's clear that they want to make them Trick Room monsters but if they want to succeed in the slow creep war of TR, they need to be slower since they can't even hold an Iron Ball.

Zard Z is more of a trapper that screws physical threats. Fire/Dragon is a very good defensive typing and flame body+I trap you is nasty. Way more niche than the real ones, but strong anyway.

You get the drill: Spoiler alert: all of these mons, while decent, are not worth the mega slot over the original megas Venusaur: So for context, the original mega venu, despite it’s kit, it isn’t actually used much, even on sun teams, as it gets passed over for other sub megas like mega sceptile and mega zard Y. Which makes it extra bad that venu x is worse than venu y, since it’s just your bog standard breaker in a game with a sea of them roaming around. Charizard Z: This, and blastoise, spoilers, suffer from the same issue, on paper, they WOULD be decent, but the thing is, the bar set by the original megas is something they can’t HOPE to top, and even with them taken out of the picture they still aren’t that Good for their own personal reasons. In Zard Z’s case…. yeah it defo suffers from having a high bar to top with the other megas, at least x is a completely different role, but Y is the best of the bunch by a golden mile, and it holy out does anything z tries to do, whether that be wall breaking or sweeping with mystic dance. But Yard actually has been a problem for ou for a while now, and mystic dance may as well be the last draw and become banned. Does it find a niche then? Nope It’s still just a bog standard breaker in a rom in a sea of standard breakers. Blastoise X: Likewise, it’s extremely difficult to top blastoise Y’s shell smashing terror, but also likewise to zard Y and z, it’s also a Mon that shouldn’t be ou, so take him out of the picture, and would you get a Mon worth using. Worth the mega slot, no, but at the very least it nearly has all it needs to work. If this had a better recovery move than refresh, the Mon would be taken seriously, since its kit is relatively decent for its role as a bulk focused sweeper.

2:42 I'm a 100% sure that Big leaves Actually Doesn't Need Sun at all! I know because i used to sweep rain teams with solarblade Mega sceptile where it used to hit in one turn and full damage even in rain Meaning the ability completely negates the actual weather and makes it Sunny for the user alone.

Thats the chloroplast part of big leaves, which makes moves like solar blade/beam and weather ball always act like they're in sun. The other parts of big leaves, like solar power and chlorophyll (the most important ones, imo) will only activate in proper, actual sunlight

Do a video on all the mythical pokemon. Some of them are pretty unique. I have started using a team with jirachi and celebi as pivots that set doom desire and future sight. Alse used darkrai but it is just broken. Very cool mons

Mega Blastoise X was a massive pain for my recent Monobug Doubles LC run. I was relying on Trapinch in Trick Room, and even it couldn't punch through Blastoise reliably. Mega Venusaur X is wasted on Maxie. Wasn't even a major threat to my bugs, especially when the guy has Mega Camerupt. I don't remember any trainers having Megazard Z, but add him to the list of mons in this game that are strong arguments for running the Protective Pads.

I feel like Mega Charizard Z's Wildfire should instead specifically boost Fire Spin to 90 bp (the bp it is boosted to as G-Max Wildfire) if they're going down the "Fire Spin's effect is kinda like G-Max Wildfire" route. Trying to make it into a phys def tank with only 79/103 physical defenses that gets rocked by non-contact moves just doesn't work - especially not when its direct competitors in the X and Y Mega forms are just master classes in their respective niches. Fire Spin being boosted - which is similar to Water Shuriken being morphed when used by Ash Greninja, so it isn't entirely unprecedented - makes it take on a much more proactive trapper role similar to Heatran. A similarity that becomes even more clear with both of them having access to Flame Body to still punish incoming contact moves. This would mean that it would have to be completely swapped to a dedicated special attacker, or at least ditch Flare Blitz, which does suck. But being more specialized in its role is better than being simultaneously Mega X and Mega Y lite. The other Gigantamax Megas also suffer from being mixed attackers, I feel. Mega Blastoise X is slow enough to have a decent stat distribution as a slow tank, but then 145/113 for offensive stats come in as the ugliest split imaginable. Just lower its Sp. Atk to 93 at least and put those points into its Defense so it can tank a lot better and deal more damage with Body Press. Mega Venusaur X is just a misstep on multiple fronts. As mentioned, lower its Speed and put those into its defenses, but also lower its Sp. Atk and put those into its defenses. Base 100 offense with no boost is bad for Mega standards even in the mainline games, and most of its Abilities are clearly tailored towards using physical attacks. Take 20 from its Speed and Sp. Atk, and you can make a 90/150/150 defensive spread monster with both a reoccuring healing factor and gradually increasing offensive pressure. Something could also be done for Mega Blastoise X's Whirlpool to mirror G-Max Cannonade and maybe Mega Venusaur X's Vine Whip can be used to mirror G-Max Vine Lash (there's no Grass trapping move - no, Snap Trap doesn't count plus they made it Steel-type in Elite Redux). Though with that, Dauntless Shield is already really good as a central Ability for Mega Blastoise X (and Mega Blastoise X is physical Attack leaning), and while Shell Bell but bad could easily be replaced on Mega Venusaur X, Vine Whip being made into a 90 bp trapping move might be getting too much into "you're just turning a move into a completely different move" territory (which I personally don't mind as long as it gets the job done, but other people might not like it).
