Update, December 2022: Kanye West, now known as Ye, is not the artist we used to know. From conspiracy theories to dining with white supremacists to praising Hilter’s Nazi regime, we have to ask: How did Ye get here? Read the report on Vox.com: bit.ly/3UsRKI9
@NomadFlow Жыл бұрын
"Kanye West, now known as Ye, is not the artist we used to know." Stop it. Stop it with this false narrative that Kanye only became this now and that he was different before. No. Kanye West has always been suffering from some kind of illness of the mind and he has put that on full display dozens of times over the years. The problem is him becoming rich and famous made it possible for him to ever avoid being properly diagnosed and receive help because his fans and especially those that worked for and with him over the years made excuses for his behavior and downplayed his past actions. The article you linked to mentions only some of those past actions which means you are aware of this. So why continue to downplay his history to make it seem as if he was never the person that we are seeing now? Kanye West's illness of the mind has been in everyone's face for as long as the public has known of Kanye West.

@@MrCHI2cool Still better than a lot of beats NaS has used in the past. I mean, the "Children's Story" looped sample for the "Cops Shot the Kid" beat alone was lit af, and also serves as yet another great example of how Kanye takes the human voice and uses it as part of an instrumental for a hip hop track. Very unconventional but still works beautifully. It honestly kind of annoyed me at first, like the entirety of Yeezus, but it grew on me to the point that it's some of my favorite from Kanye's repertoire.

I remember when I first started listening to Kanye at 10-11 years old. I would sit in the bathroom of my studio apartment when my mom was asleep, just blasting "Through The Wire" on my mp3 player ..and whenever we went to the mall I'd go into Barnes and Noble and look for the new Kanye album, and just blast that "Jesus Walks" sample over and over again. I don't know what it was that made me love his music from such a young age without really understanding the underlying message in his music, but to this day he is my favorite artist of all time. I remember paying an arm and a leg to get a close up seat during his TLOP tour, and as he exited he passed within 20 feet of me, and I saw him up close, and I can remember how numb I felt. I know it sounds crazy, but his music truly changed my life, he has saved me countless times, and I don't care how "crazy" he is, he will forever be a musical genius ...thank you Kanye for the music you make, and never stop.

My dad had played him all the time but I didn't know who he was until like maybe 7th or 8th grade, when I was like 12 or 13, and throughout time I listened more and more to him and I just grew to love him and his music. Every song is an absolute masterpiece, and I love it all no matter what people say or whatever. He is an open thinker and he really wants the best for the people and the world. People need to stop seeing him as the "bad guy" or the "crazy guy" and start seeing him as a guy who has gone through a lot of troubles and hardships just like everyone has and that has done his very best to do what he does.

@gcisamhaga86058 жыл бұрын
The new album has maybe 2 or 3 good songs, but overall it's no where near the quality of his first 5 classics. I feel like his fashion thing really has messed with his music. He's said in interviews before that Yeezus was basically his state of mind at the time, how he wasn't in a good place (because of being "rejected" by the fashion industry), and wanted to convey that through his music.
@FilmColossus8 жыл бұрын
Kanye's moved away from pop music and into music as high art. Yeezus is a narrative. Pablo is a narrative. The individual tracks are like chapters in a story. This has a huge impact on the music. Before, the job of the individual track was to be as dope as possible. Jesus Walks and All Falls Down and Through the Wire were just great individual tracks. But on Yeezus, each track is adding to the story. So I Am a God is supposed to foreshadow the emotional breakdown we get on New Slaves that leads to the sad person we see on Hold My Liquor through Guilt Trip. All the bravado on On Sight, Black Skinhead, and I Am a God was only to hide the pain this character really felt. Setting up Bound 2, where there's now hope for love, compassion, companionship, an end to the loneliness, fear, and pain. Pablo is the same way. Freestyle 4 might seem like a weird track, but it has a job: to embody the sexual cravings this character feels, the ones that have caused the character to cheat on his wife time and again and potentially lose his wife and marriage. It's the nadir of the album. Is it a great, individual track in the way of Gold Digger? No. But it's meaningful in the context of the album. And leads to the reflection on I Love Kanye, the talk of rebirth on Waves, and then the struggle to change and become a better person on FML.

+Shad Sylla "His new stuff isn't that great !" back then that's what they said about 808's and Heartbreak, so don't be too quick to judge, just give it a try. Personally I like all his albums, because each one reveals a new dimension to the listener. If you ever feel like the whole world is out to get you and you feel helpless, listen to "Yeezus", It will show you that your not the only one that feels like it, and it will motivate you to fight back !

@Alexurquiaga123456788 жыл бұрын
Xxblacksteel xX and he wont. Kendrick doesnt produce his songs so he cant change the way people arrange songs directly, only through his producers. Kendricks flow has fallen off since Section .80 and though his lyrics are more provoking, he has a choppy, un aesthetically pleasing flow that doesnt fit well on most tracks. Take for example No More Parties in LA where kendrick cant seem to ever catch the flow and some argue that the beat was off putting and hard to flow on but Kanye comes in flawlessly and actually beats Kendrick at his own game.
@Heartpart.8 жыл бұрын
Oscar Urquiaga I was thinking more of like accomplishments instead of style. Kendrick has achieved as many Grammy nominations as Michael Jackson, he's one of the leaders who are making rap political again, ya dig? The things he's achieved are making a statement in the hip- hop industry.

I discovered him through his drama with Taylor Swift long ago (I'm a fan of her music) but it wasn't until last year that I tried listening to TLOP and my mind is blown away. I'm now slowly completing his discography!

+Mtthew 123 Knaye constantly shits on himself, berating people on Twitter , yelling at interviewers, the only news he is on is if you really wanna stretch it and every once in awhile he is on tmz again. Like the guy or not lets not make up a secret agenda against him to explain why he gets so much bad press.
@mtthew1238 жыл бұрын
Gentry Stover That's other people's fault. I don't get the whole point of caring about his tweets, interviews or other news. I simply listen to his music if I like it I like it if I don't I don't. All the other stuff really doesn't matter.
@AnesuC8 жыл бұрын
By the way, keep in mind that a decent proportion of the views come from none-subscribers. There is actually a higher chance of a non sub to dislike because they might not be used to the type of content. Also yeah, doesn't look like there is remotely that much hate, and you cleared it up few comments ago I guess

Being creative and not being scared on taking risks making hit records that also have that classic feel to them and on top of that..having a real message is what makes kanye west a genius. Not many artist in music history have 10 classic albums 7 of his own and 3 as a producer for the rappers albums below.. Jay z - the blueprint Common - Be Pusha T - Daytona kanye has 84 platinum songs out of 184 songs 75 Grammy nominations.. the 4th most ever kanye won 24 Grammy's in total. Classics 🎖 Mainstream success 🎖 Critically acclaimed 🎖 All huge achievements it's super rare and kanye has influenced pretty much everyone we listen to. You can hate the man but you can't deny his one of a kind legendary career.

It’s crazy how he does this. Just think about Power. Power has the whole tribal chant in the background throughout the entire song and it fits so well. Then think about Stronger. The beat he is sampling is literally human voices singing. Same with All of the Lights. The thing that helps make the song so memorable is the beginning “all of the lights!” This dude is phenomenal.

Loved the video but surprised you missed one thing. On 'Good Life', the reason that synth sounds so much like vocals is because it is. For good life he sampled michael Jackson’s PYT and then modified and combined it with synthesiser.
