Living with bipolar 1 disorder makes it hard for a lot of us to want to take our meds. It feels much better to be high in fantasy land than to have to deal with the shame that comes with facing the consequences of our chaotic actions. It takes real courage to make amends and apologize to those we’ve hurt because of them. But that’s also the only way to find inner peace.

He’s very fortunate to have wealth and success to shield him from societal negative consequences for those with mental illnesses. For most people, they’d have a mountain of negative consequences to deal with if they behaved like Kanye and did all the same things he does. It’s unfortunate that Kanye doesn’t get therapy and help, because if he were healthier he could be influential against ending mental illness stigma and could help a lot of people who are suffering, especially within the black community.

I think him being with KimK threatened his power. The K’s are powerful at controlling their own narrative as that’s what got them famous in the first place.. Kanye can come off as crazy, but I also think the problem is that he is alone without his mom. It makes sense he feels like he doesn’t have a say in his kids lives with the entire K family on Kim’s side and no one on his. I’m sure he uses the media to get the public to side with him.

I recently watched the Lex Friedman interview, and at one point Kanye mentions that he has embraced a philosophy he described as “say it out loud”. He essentially said that he finds value in blurting out whatever thoughts pop into his mind, whether negative or positive, expressing love or hate, violence or peace, etc. I wonder how much that philosophy is damaging his social life, and his mental and behavioral health in general. I believe this idea likely came from the fact that Kanye is a musician. For artistic professions, it can be very beneficial to simply let your thoughts flow onto the page (or through your instrument, or what have you) without obstruction. As a guitarist of 15+ years, I have definitely noticed that my best creative moments most often come in moments where I let my mind surf from one idea to the next, without worrying about how any of it should be organized. In music, this is a perfectly natural way of thinking, because it allows you to write your melodies more efficiently by writing them in bulk all at the same time, then later you can simply go back and arrange the pieces you have created in a way that makes sense. But Kanye says that he applies this philosophy, or way of thinking rather, to areas outside of his creative endeavors. He speaks his mind, no matter what is on his mind, no matter the situation. And he also very clearly has a grandiose sense of himself, often implying that he was chosen by god and likening himself to Jesus, and frequently referring to himself as the greatest writer/thinker/influencer/musician/celebrity/whatever else of his time. Combine those two factors, and what you get is a character like Kanye West. Someone who speaks in erratic, disconnected bursts of mania which rarely if ever even remotely relate to the question they were asked; But whom cannot be convinced that they aren’t making any sense because they believe they are the greatest genius of their generation. It’s unfortunate that Kanye has not been able to get the help he needs, because he truly was a talented artist at one point. But he has become so delusional and self absorbed that it’s hard to imagine he will ever return to form again. I certainly wouldn’t want to support him as an artist anymore, because evidently his success has only served to make his mental illness worse by reinforcing his grandiose delusions about himself. Here’s hoping Kanye is able to find the help he needs, and that some day he looks back on this moment in his life as a wake up call.

everyone knows that asking someone "if they are okay" especially when they don't even know the person is basically an insult. He is abusive which makes it hard to have compassion and empathy, I think. He doesn’t think there is anything wrong with him and that all his problems (unemployment, legal problems from assault to multiple DUIs, etc) are because people are always just out to get him. He never will accept any responsibility or apologize for any thing, ever. He always used to beat me up and be really verbally abusive when we were kids but I still loved him and looked up to him. I think I am just growing tired of it, but I know he needs help. Really frustrating and scary. He thought he had parasites in his body for years and I would send him money all the time so he could get more tests to prove that he had these parasites but he would never believe the doctors. He thinks it was a huge conspiracy against him and that the Doctors were all against him. My husband and I gave him so much money, like over 30,000 over a two year period because he was having medical issues. When we finally decided we had to stop giving him all that money he got so angry and that’s when he became so fixated on the idea that i am just against him. He scares me. Sorry.

I’m bipolar and well regulated. I can tell you if he’s off his meds, especially Lexapro, his brain isn’t working correctly. What he says DOES make sense to him, in his mind. I think Kim managed his meds (or he just took them) while building his family. When it was time to get creative, he stopped his meds. As an artist, I get it. Meds strip you of creativity. He would write, then go back on his meds, resetting his brain each time. That’s why he’s crazy, then we hear nothing for months….then crazy again.

I watched the interview. Kanye mostly was very clear and articulate in professing his thoughts. However, he would go off topic, at times, and struggle with regaining composure in order to verbally relate his ideas. In those “rants,” he would verbally stumble as if he lost his grip on exactly what was expressing. I believe he was tremendously emotional, during those times, resulting in him looking odd. The subject of his wife, kids, and his investment regarding Slims and the Kutchener’s % of the business all caused him to lose his self control or focus. He felt betrayed by his ex-wife and his friends, the Kutchners. Overall, the interview was interesting and well done. We do not know Kanye personally and do not know what he deals with every day. The MSM and the Kardashians have united to set the narrative about Kanye. They each have their own reasons why they need to push the “crazy” Kanye narrative. I pray for him to heal so that he can gain more insight, more self control, and a stronger, closer relationship with his faith in Christ Jesus.

(Referential mania.) He could point out some more realistic truths. Kanye needs help. I hope he gets it. For a long time, I was a fan of Scott Adam's vlogs. Scott - creator of Dilbert - once said he thought Kanye was starting a new religion and if he does it will be popular. To Scott's credit, I can totally see Kanye leading a few thousand people to move to South America and build a commune. But I can't imagine that ending in success.

is this the same scott adams that said you should kill your own son if he is a danger to others? The guy that said there were 'satanic coincidences" in the Biden presidential campaign? i think Scott is jealous that Kanye's deranged behavior gets more attention than his own unhinged comments.

@@fefelarue2948 well he was technically always in jail so he wasn’t there for Kanye. His mom was important to Kanye. He’s clearly suffering without her. A mother would understand and try to help him not shame him. That’s what she’d do, help.

I never thought I would say this, but I feel bad for Kim k in this situation. I can't imagine have to co parent with someone like that, especially when they find ways to smear you-and by extension your children-on a public platform. That would be very difficult

Kim K really is no better. Their family literally use black men for their gain. Kim used Ray J for money and smeared his name and painted herself a victim - turns out that she had the idea for the sex tape and for him to "sell" it. A plot to make her famous. The whole family is fame and money hungry with no integrity.

That’s why I don’t have sympathy for him. I have mental illness. I know people with bipolar disorder. We all take our medications, go to therapy, and most importantly, don’t stalk our exes or threaten to murder their new partners. Once you start fucking with other people’s lives, it doesn’t matter why you do it. Just that you did it. If he weren’t rich and famous he’d probably be baker acted at LEAST.

Wowwww The New York Times said there is no excuse for his behavior. Has it really come to this now???? Where someone who has a tshirt saying someone's life matters is basically accused of an atrocious crime? It's a crime to have a tshirt that says this person or this group deserves to live?

Thank you again for your analysis of Kanye West's interview, Doctor Grande. It was just another example of a fading celebrity unable to realize that his inflated ego has no relation to the brutal reality that he is not, and never has been, that important or admirable and not particularly intelligent.

He's talking about Kanye west who's documentary is literally called "jeen-yus" because since college dropout, he's been considered a genius. (And he undeniably is 👀. to say Kanye's music is just mid is, just not true lol all his music in 2004 sounded like it was 1970/ 2021 at the same time). I can't think of anyone in the music game I can even compare to KANYE WEST. Kanye means "the only one" and it def fits, he was and always has been like if you don't like rap, ok 👀 but to say KANYE WEST "isn't particularly intelligent" you of had to just heard of him, this morning lol
