@paulbefc No they started mainstream rap, but it was only considered mainstream not because of the aspect of money but because it was now being played on major pop stations, and with a much wider and international audience, where as older hip hop was basically mix tapes. Actually Biggie and Pac where among the first rapper to successfully mix Rap and R&B. Commercial mainstream rap is when you're speaking about the rap industry, Mainstream rap simply means it's not contemporary rap! lol
