@@advilpm359 EDIT: I'm keeping my original post below while admitting in this edit it was ignorant and snobbish. Please see my response to Tyrone Stevens in the comments below. Original post: Speak the truth? What he said was nearly unintelligible. He couldn't form a sentence. If you want to convey a message, coming across as an uninformed, bumbling idiot isn't the way to do it. There's no doubt he knew what he wanted to say, but nerves and anger got the best of him. He should've come prepared with exactly what he wanted to convey.

The whole spot was supposed to be longer, it was fully scripted but Kanye said “it was too emotional of a situation” and that he was going to go off and improv. Mike is the only one reading the teleprompter here and nobody had any idea what Ye was gonna say, hence everybody’s reaction and then the cutaway. Myers and Tucker both said that they were proud of Kanye for saying what everybody wanted to say, but didn’t have the balls to.

He looked like he wanted to smack him for being an idiot. In 2022, such behavior is considered "woke" and real. What's real is that Kanye was dropping controversial political statements during what was supposed to be a classy fundraiser. He looks like a buffoon...and what's worse is that he probably did this to get his name in headlines. Just like he did with Taylor Swift. Yall think that stuff is improvised but it's not. It's calculated.

It’s a fundraiser for hurricane katrina. They were using star power to get people to donate. Mike Myers just came out with Austin Powers: Goldmember not that long before this, and Kanye just came out with his College Dropout album. Both were huge at the time and that’s why they hired them. What Kanye said was completely off script, hence why they cut both of them off as soon as Kanye says “George Bush hates black people.” It’s funny now, but that shit was embarrassing for everyone involved at the time.
