Tha fact that he is trying to change or be minimal is golden… just because ppl try to change doesn’t mean that they can do it 100%, so don’t hate on him for trying because being a celebrity and being in that kind of industry, we know it’s going to be tough for him to change 100%. Applauds for trying Kanye and don’t give up!

Interesting video as I do enjoy the minimalist ideology. Personally I feel Kanye cannot be a minimalist by virtue of owning numerous homes and cars, possessions etc. The minimalist home is like an ode to minimalism in itself though, the aesthetic is spot on. Different people translate minimalism greatly; one person possesses the essential items which can be fitted into one travel bag and another owns a whole house that is functional and tidy with no excess. What is true minimalism?

Honestly, as wold as Ye is about most things, I empathize with him a lot. I think he only got weird and lost because of his mom passing away. It was clearly a major turning point in his life. If minimalism is helping him center, I'm happy for him. I hope he continues to benefit from it. I think it's kinda cool that he's moved towards a more ascetic, simple style.

Kanye is a minimalist. That doesn't mean he must pretend to be poor. He is a much neeeded inspiration for rich folk who just follow trends due to peer and lifestyle pressure. Your videos are always a learning tool and an inspiration. I think minimalism is personal. I’m a little biased though because I lean more toward essentialism minimalism and I think having excessive items like lots of clothes regardless off minimal colors like in his closet and a huge building of a house consuming more utilities and so forth in his case (no offense) doesn’t really portray a minimalist lifestyle. It looks basically more like minimal aesthetics.

I think that minimalism can mean quality over quantity. The style, brand or what have you, that you choose shouldn't be the factor. For example Yeezy is a brand but if that's what you want to buy as your quality item so be it. Now buying a closet full that's not minimalism.

Even though he is rich. It is a mindset. A new trend is the "minimalist lifestyle." Living by bare bones. A way to not only cut many expenses but also to save money which will grow wealth. But is this good for you? As I told my own subscribers, I contend that instead of having an existence of "minimalism," living in a shack and a sleeping bag, you should adopt the mindset instead. In other words, you don't have to deprive yourself and suffer to have the minimalist mindset which will give you money to invest. The minimalist mindset person will buy only what he needs. He won't go in the winter without a coat but will by the cheapest one that does the job--not the designer label. He won't buy a 50K car when he makes 80K a year. He'll buy the 15K Honda Civic used one and save money on a lesser car payment, insurance and gas. He doesn't go to TGI Friday's every week--he goes once a month and grills at home the other three weeks. He brings his coffee from home and doesn't spend 4 bucks twice a day at Starbucks down the street from his office. See the point? You don't have to live like a monk. The minimalist mindset just cuts down on the unnecessary. If you do this you will find that not only do financial problems disappear but you will grow a ton of assets on the side. Hope this helps someone out there---Charles

There is a difference in a minimalistic lifestyle/simple living vs just having a small amount of expensive stuff. The minimalistic lifestyle derives from the concept of living without worldly possessions. The early philosopher Epicurus explained it best. It is blasphemy(not in a judgmental way, just facts) to have only expensive things, switching them out for the latest expensive things, keeping a small amount of it all, and calling it “minimal living”. It’s about not having to own what you enjoy. Reaching within for your needs rather than displaying them in a physical form. Owning only what you absolutely need, not to show off for anyone else. The concept has been washed up for so many years and people are loosing the true sight in the purpose of it. Kind of melancholy I think.
@Ikaros233 жыл бұрын
"Minimalist design" and " frugal minimalism" is not the same. with " frugal minimalist", im talking about the amout of stuff and digital minimalism. That is a frugal minimalist is not a hoarder of stuff or digital clutter. Kanye is still a maximalist on the last part. But indeed a minimalist and wabi-sabi estetic on the first. He and his ex-wife and the " Kardashians" are as far as i can see the antitesis of the " frugal minimalist". They are the " Versace" estetics and owning MAX on all levels. My opinion is that Kanye is on the journey but to him at this part he is more about the " image" and the estetics of minimalism. I think Kanye going away from Maximalism . And minimalism is going to turn him more and more frugal, because i think he knows it is good for his mental health. This is going to be good for the planet, when more people see that there is no point in hoarding all that stuff. Im be no means against Luxury. That is expensive/high quality items. But im against hoarding items for no other purpose than owning it. On some level Luxury is better than cheap stuff because people on some level care more for them and take care of them. A person can still enjoy luxury and even the " Versace" style, but still be frugal in the amount of items and even have the " rustic" estetics. I think it`s important to see the difference here because all people are different and minimalism can have a million different "styles". But again as far as i can see Kanye is a SUPER hoarder, and i think the greed is consuming him and it is eating of his mental energy

Can you be a materialist minimalist? Kanye's thoughts are not clear and logical on this topic. He is using some aspects of minimalism (mainly aesthetic) to fuel his materialism. Its the classic case of the double standard (which Duchess Megan was so disliked for in England) - "I encourage you to reduce but I consume". Huge houses, massive renovations, flying in private jets...

Jean Royère and Pierre Jeanneret were not "Minimalist" designers. Are you familiar with Royère's œuvre? - his work is very expressive mid-century Modern ....not concerned with minimalism at all. Pierre Jeanneret was a quintessential Modernist - his Chandigarh furniture was designed to be easily produced by local craftsmen from locally-sourced materials - the forms are rigid and formal but still very functional - they too are not essentially minimalist in intent.

Strange description of minimalism! in such a lifestyle reduced to luxury furnitures placed here and there randomly in large rooms, it rather gives an impression of spatial emptiness no photos no decorations no flowers no animals, no private areas. Maybe necessary for the psychic of a money maker like Kanye but that’s not really the ideal lifestyle that you can wish for the mental development of your children.
