Kanye didn't produce this remix btw. It's all Caroline Shaw. Her whole sound as an artist seems to be based around her own voice, from what I can tell, so she must've took the stems and re-recorded the whole background instruments with her vocals and through stacking & manipulating them then adding back in the original heart monitor percussion + Ye's vocals. But yeah even without this remix Say You Will has always been a classic. Same thing artsy 80s pop artists like Peter Gabriel, Kate Bush, etc got tonnes of praise for is also what got Kanye lukewarm reviews when 808s was released. But yeah thankfully in the 2010s the album got more of the recognition it deserves and Say You Will can now receive some of its due props.

I like this version equally as much as the 808s version, since it's so different. The 808s version feels empty, hollow, abyssal. Like you're floating in limbo. This version feels like an aggressive, chaotic, violent hymn to your own grief. It's like being beaten to death in a 1400s cathedral. Both versions are amazing in their own right. There's no real comparison between the two.

Haunting. Bone chilling. This version encapsulates the true heartache people experience, through the echoing vocals and faint whispers. It’s surprising this version wasn’t on the album, almost as if it was too chilling. The version that made it was profound still, with minimal beat and restricted vocals that give off the same sad feel to it. However, after hearing this version I genuinely felt scared, haunted, the feeling from past heartbreak and sadness. Kanye is without a doubt, a genius.

I think you could argue that MBDTF serves as a sequel to 808s. If 808s is Ye's fall, MBDTF is his comeback. It's huge and almost the opposite to 808s in a way that the two projects work together poetically. You can even compare the album covers. Both feature a picture taking up a small portion of the space. The heart on 808s can represent Kanye beat down and broken even. The red on MBDTF can be a deeper look at the heart from 808s, representing Ye refinding/reinventing himself after having everything taken away on 808s & Heartbreak. (At least that's how I interpreted it)
@DorfLingus5 жыл бұрын
Sea Robin That’s an interesting perspective. I would raise another one though as a counter. I see MBDTF as a superior culmination of the feelings and concept of 808s. More complex and varied, there is actually quite a bit of sadness in Twisted Fantasy too so I find it to be the bigger more interesting mix. And I wouldn’t say that as a knock against 808s totally cause I think that it’s in my top 4 Kanye albums and the most underrated Kanye album imo. But MBDTF is also one of the greatest albums ever made so any album seems less compared to it. Though that’s how I compare them concept wise. Now I would say that Ye actually is closer to 808s in that it’s personal, raw, a bit of a detour from his usual releases and was pretty polarizing.
@mohamadmahmoud69265 жыл бұрын
Sea Robin MBDTF is legitimately garbage. The mainstream media and his fans made him feel like shit for creating the most innovative album of the century and he had to give a backhanded apology with outdated production, boring lines about the life of a typical celebrity and bloated musical guests. 808s is a masterpiece and will always be regarded as such.

Some of Kanye's music to me sounds like a raw thought, no filter, just a thought or idea that can be expanded upon and refined but he keeps it raw and personal and individual. This is one of those songs that stands out to me not because of the content specifics but just the song as a whole invoking raw and wild emotion. Caroline whispering the lyrics in the background and the loud choir section really captures what it feels like to think and to feel. As he once said on the Joe Rogan podcast, when he speaks it's not single separate ideas, it's a symphony. The symphonies he creates in his music and the power they carry not just as formations of his ideals but of the concept of an ideal itself are what make him so intriguing to me. Not that I sit down with every one of his tracks and think of the symphony of thoughts in the song, of course not, it's not the thought, its the raw emotion.

Yo anyone reading this I need ur prayers man we all gone through times like this but it’s been hard as fuck from me. I’ve been stressed out, I barely eat, I’m getting skinnier, vomiting is something normal now. I don’t know where else to go, what else to do. My love life is just fucked up. And so is my life in general, I think. I hope the best to anyone of you here, and I hope y’all are doing great. 2020 gotta be better.

@@jeremydan825 Hi dude, yeah I've wholesomely transformed my life slowly and surely. I just got an 80% discount scholarship in my dream university here in Indonesia, I've committed to my true love now and we've planned to actually engage in about 4 years or 5 God knows,.. Everything else is fine and doing better than ever, I've been eating a lot and I just found out an unexplored obsession of mine, yogurt. Thank you for asking dude hehehe

I don't care what people say about Kanye, I love this song no matter what. One of his most emotional songs EVER, I prefer this over the original because of the harmonizing choir and the violin in the background as well, Caroline Shaw really did amazing on here, Kanye gave it it's best on the production and on the lyrics, I will and I will support Kanye no matter what, this dude is mad talented and the goat, he shaped this generation like no other could, thank you, Kanye. For your music getting me through the toughest of times in my life, I love you, Kanye.

I believe that whatever Kanye did in that 2015 Hollywood Bowl performance of 808s was one of the best things he has ever done in his career
