I still have my 1980 Yamaha XS1100G that I bought brand new in 1982, as it was still sitting in the dealer's showroom. I think I paid about $3K for the then brand-new motorcycle. I have ridden the bike every year since then, and it still runs like a top! Ken is correct when he says the bike is bulletproof. All I have done to the bike over 40+ years is new tires, battery, replaced oils (engine, mid drive & shaft drive), filters (oil & air), brake pads / brake fluids, rebuilt the front and rear brake master cylinders and rebuilt the rear brake caliper. The engine is BULLETPROOF, has cost me very little to own / maintain and it still runs like it just came off the showroom floor.

Nice, I bought a 1980 1100 G last year. Was not running. Just took a ride on it, it does feel like a very strong machine for being that old.

I just inherited one from my grandpa. It’s been in our family for probably 25 years, sat for close to 15 when my grandpa was sick towards the end of his life. Mine is a bagger with a Pacifico fairing all paint matched with the original dark red paint. 24,000 miles. Got it running this spring and have been riding the shit out of it. Such a beauty. Absolutely minty. Great bike. Gunna pull the trans apart this winter and fix the 1st gear since it’s slipping under high throttle.

Great video. Nice information and nice clean speaking with that microphone. In 1978 this was the fastest production motorcycle in the world in the quarter mile. I'm currently restoring a 1980.

One gorgeous Yamaha. Brings back great childhood memories. When I was 7 years old in 1980, My Uncle Jay bought himself a new Yamaha XS 1100....Looked exactly like this bike, and I remember him giving me a ride, around his neighborhood block. Awesome race between You and the Manic Mechanic. That green and yellow Yamaha RD 400 is freaking gorgeous, and I saw him lift the front wheel up, when he was racing you. 😂😂

Bravo K《☆》The RD400 shows up at the right time👍🏾🇺🇸🥤I swapped rides one night in 1987. My buddies XS11 had Anti Dive forks. I about went over the handlebars 1st time I hit the brakes after a spirited wide open run. I think the Anti Dive was disconnected or malfunctioning😁It was a Yuge difference from my 73 RD350✌😎☮

Back in the 80's my roommate had an XS1100, and I had a VMax. We rode those things all over Connecticut back then. Good times for sure. We would swap bikes on rides and I really liked that XS1100.

Started out with red 750 special. Next was 1100 Special. Last with Venture Royale. ALL WERE FABULOUS! BEST MEMORY: doing 65 or 70 on freeway when some Harleys pulled up and wanted to race. DIDN'T even down shift as I left them behind.(all downshifting). Rolling start beat my buddy on his Harley LOW RIDER he just got back from a place called DRAG SPECIALTIES in Dallas. 1100 was a drive shaft ROCKET. NEVER any trouble with any...

I regret selling my 1983 XJ550K to a friend who promptly destroyed it. My first bike, babied it for 10 years and if I could find another one I would get it in a heartbeat! Love that inline 4 sound and the profile of these bikes is perfect! Nice one right there...

Back in 1978, when the XS1100E first came out, I was working in a Yamaha dealership over here in New Zealand. The first XS1100E came into our shop, we assembled it from the crate, and I was let to be the first person to ride it. I was a young lad of 18 years of age. Rode it around a block of streets near the shop, and turned into the last stretch back to the shop, and gave it a bit of a wind up, still in town with a 30mph speed limit. I think I hit 50, briefly, and was instantly pulled over by a traffic cop. He didn't even suggest giving me a ticket, he just oogled at the bike.

Always loved these bikes , US custom style XS1100 models were the best looking , always thought this model should have kept the emergency kick start option . some ones going to be very pleased with this XS.

The most comparable machine to this of mine was my 82 Kawasaki KZ 750 four in midnight blue metallic with light blue pinstriped stripes. It too was a beautiful bike and very nice ride. It was chain final drive with cast alloy wheels. I traded it for my 91 Suzuki GSX 1100 G which I still ride. Someone would think it new. Once pulled over by highway patrol and he asked where I had it restored. Blown away that she was factory. I’ve always taken pride in my machines but I most definitely ride them.😊
