Extremely glad I watched this video. Just bought a 1979 xs1100. Sat for 36 years. Carb gas turned into tar. Only good thing is that it has 3690 miles on it.

All looked good until you deployed the 400 grit for the needle - use aluminum foil - not sandpaper or emery paper - also always avoid getting carb cleaner anywhere near the rubberised diaphragm as the cleaner degrades the rubber material

these ones didnt have a rubber diaphram, just the slides connected to the throttle cables.

In process of cleaning carbs on my 79 Special. Neither float needle seat has a screen. Finding those may be a real problem. Any suggestions would be appreciated. This is my first carburetor job and following your video step by step makes the job much easier.

Wish I had an answer for you, I just used the kit and what was in it.

You never removed the pilot jet. It is located in the tunnel underneath the plug next to the main jet. Also... you need to identify the parts that you are using to replace jets etc... If not genuine Mikuni parts they will not work properly in these carbs. Been messing with these bikes and carbs for years. What you are displaying could be very misleading to people.

Cajun3158-yes spraying the pilot jet kind of does nothing. Need to remove it with small flat screwdriver and soak or spray with carb cleaner. I prefer to dip in carb pail and let it sit for a day. Then I look at it with a magnifying glass to see if its clean.

what emulsion tube goes in witch carb???? i took mine apart and dont know witch tube goes in witch carb. the tubes have different hole pattern. please help

I honestly haven't seen them with different hole patterns, I would imagine the inner ones would be the same and the two outer ones would be the same. I know that they do things like that because of heat in the two internal cylinders. That's just my guess tho.

Are you sure the float gasket is correct? top right hole in gasket, used to go around top left hole, but its a dead hole i put mine on like yours, cuz they did not fit right the wrong way, letters down correct?
