If you wanted to control the GPS and type with your phone, can you do that? Or do you need to type on the stereo itself?

You would have to type on the stereo. What you’re talking about is apple play or car play. This stereo is like a tablet. It can also wirelessly mirror your phone with mirrorlink which then you can use your phone to type.

8878 is the password (at least on mine) You can change the boot logo from Toyota to whatever you want! I see your radio has the same fitment issue as mine, the top left corner doesn’t sit flush... I tried reinstalling it 3 times too... Otherwise it’s awesome... Red Prius represent!

That’s amazing!!! I was going to reinstall and purchase stereo brackets from other vendors to see if it’s the manufacturers product that’s defected. But if ur telling me u tried to reinstall it 3 times.. I’ll just let it be lol. thank you for giving me this info I’m going to try the code and see if it works for me.

@@BrokeInCalifornia I actually bought the same looking thing from a different seller, not Kapud. I went with Sadocom who is a silver seller rather than gold... because they advertised having carplay/AA... which I don't really use anyway haha. I splurged on the 4gb ram 64 memory model for $310. I noticed when using google maps it's laggy when trying to set or stop a destination. Maybe it's the CPU... I did download my area map for offline use... For me the wifi is terrible, so it gets internet using bluetooth from my iphone somehow, but it is automatic.... I'm still figuring it all out haha. I plan to hook up a 360 camera to it, so I'll try getting it to fit right again, and I'll update ya how it goes !

@@itoohavedreams definitely!! Keep me updated! Btw when you reverse do you get that annoying black screen? And I never knew an aftermarket 360 degree camera could be installed. Let me know how that works. I’ll do my own research sounds like something I’d be interested in doing as well.

@@BrokeInCalifornia My car didn’t come with a backup camera, but it had the base touchscreen. I learned that the factory backup cam is 6V but most aftermarket cameras are 12V and are not compatible with the stock touchscreen without some type of adapter. So I bought a 6V camera... the Crux RVCTY-71... and it works on both the stock screen and the fancy new one And if you type in Prius 360 cam there’s a video of a guy installing it... Good luck man !!

I recently bought Kapud for my KIA Sorento, it turned out a dissatisfaction. What I bought is different specs from what I received (no DSP, no wireless Carplay). Using CPUZ ID to check hardware specs, the application was blocked and couldn't run. I suspect the CPU and RAM may not be the correct specs, but I could not confirm as CPUZ software was blocked. Contacting customer support, was the worst experience I ever had. The impression was yeah you got the wrong specs, and live with it. In the end I sold it as second hand good with discount. Be careful with what you want to buy as you don't know and can not confirm what you get.

thank you for this vid and i got some questions. stock unit has the controls for interior features. how do you control them? does the stock back up camera work with this?

To be quite honest with you, the interior section seems to be just for show. Last time I tried changing up some settings it wouldn’t work. But maybe I could be wrong. Maybe it’s just my stereo that doesn’t work properly with the interior controls. No, I believe some one left a comment about that already, they confirmed the stock camera comes with lowers voltage and need to upgrade to an aftermarket camera to have it running properly.

Hi, yes the steering wheel buttons work on the radio and if you purchase the stereo from the link I provided you will also receive everything necessary to have every button function that was on the original stereo. Dr. Prius works but I would rather have that on a separate phone or tablet just The stereo is connected to the car. Idk I would just recommend using an external device for more accurate results. But that’s just me. I can definitely make a short about it

@@vasylpoz wow great news I’m testing the obd dongle with my stereo and it seems to be connecting automatically every time I turn the car and stereo off. As of now it seems to be working properly and connect automatically so when you open the hybrid assistant app you are welcomed with information your looking for.

Does the backup camera work? How do you change your settings after you take out the original head and no longer have the button?

The stereo did not come with a camera but does already have the wires connected and ready to go for a camera. The stereo automatically kicks into the reverse camera setting so if you instal the camera I can see behind you. When you say change your settings, do you mean the interior settings like locking the doors once u put the vehicle in gear or lock the door when ur vehicle reaches a certain speed? If so all of those settings are added into the new stereo so you don’t have to worry about it.

I haven’t done it but I would say yes. The only issue that I see with this is doing uber eats. Because you have to turn your vehicle off and go get the food. Then you have to go back and turn your car on and reconnect to wifi then turn on the Uber app… just sounds like a pain. For uber and lyft I just use my phone and turn wifi on for Spotify.

After speaking to some one else in the comment section I can confirm that the stock reverse camera should work fine. U will come across some issues if you buy an aftermarket camera because the voltages start coming into play. Now I would do more research before installing tho. Don’t just take my word for it

I have a 2009 XW30 Gen 3 Japan import, its not plug and play, had to back trace from the OEM camera to the loom and resolder in a 6v stepdown buck convertor to power the cam, also -Video needs to be grounded, everything else works as it should, only wish the GPS cable was longer!

It does. The seller includes a steering wheel control adapter. I believe I spoke about it on the install.

Fortunately the seller gives you everything already connected meaning the adapters are already soldered on so all you have to do is connect one end to the stereo and the other to the vehicle. Loved that about this stereo.

Yes, After watching this video I will be giving LBIC a shout in my install video. I just finished installing one of these in my 2010 that had the standard "old no touch stereo with CD" It works but I need a different cable adaptor to get my steering wheel controls working again. I will make a few videos soon showing close ups of the cables etc.
