Obviously a skilled rifleman with a 91/30 would beat an unskilled rifleman with a k98k. But the action on the K98 is objectively smoother and stronger and reloading is quicker and easier since it doesn't fire a rimmed cartridge. Also the K89k is more compact and comfortable to shoot since it has a pistol grip stock rather than a straight with the mosin. I think most can agree the mauser is the better rifle.

One of the things I found interesting is that it took you about 6s to fire 5rds out of the Kar98k, and in your Gewehr 43 vs SVT-40 video it also took about 6s to fire 5rds out of the G43. With the M91/30 it took you about 7s to fire 5rds & about 5s to fire 5rds out of the SVT-40. Not as big a difference one may expect. This is of course taking into consideration that split second it takes to aim between shots. Obviously everyone knows you can fire a semi-auto as fast as you can pull the trigger, but accuracy drops sharply particularly with the recoil of the 8x57 & 7.62x54r cartridges when trying to deliver follow up shots that fast. If you aren't landing bullets anywhere near where you want them to go then it doesn't matter how fast one fires.
@d.quixotedatristefigura14102 жыл бұрын
The thing about bolt-actions is that it takes more time to re-acquire a target, whereas with a semi-auto you can fire mutilple rounds without having to go through target acquisition again.

To be fair to the Mauser and the Mosin fair being the key word I mean it's true from some of the comments I've read here the Mauser ultimately in the form of the 98k here had a lot of time for incremental and major refinement over the years of service it had with the German army really the biggest improvements the Russians and later the Soviets made the 9130 relatively shorter length than the pre World War 1 versions had been simplified the manufacturing machinery and that was relatively it. Some factors even remove the hexagonal receiver and placed it with a rounded one to simplify mass production that just shows you the mentality I'm sure the Soviets did save money either way not doing the improvements to the 9130 that the Germans would have made to their Mauser however that being said the Soviets out produced the Mauser 100 to 1 figure seem to differ but I think the last time I checked it they made over 37 million of them as opposed to 11 million k98? I can't be sure but one thing I would certainly give here is the Mauser is the smoother easier more comfortable lighter rifle to carry the Mosin on the other hand and what makes it high for consideration is this crude but it is to be admired for being crude it was very simple and inexpensive to manufacture and likely had greater endurance in harsh conditions than the Mauser not saying the Mauser couldn't and doesn't have high endurance on its own accord I just think the most and is just a little bit more durable in inclement conditions mud and feels muck corrosion and as long as that bolt could be kicked open by the Soviet Soldier who had the strength to work the bolt it would always fire. Had had a reputation for digesting the worst quality ammunition that's another check mark I would give to the Mosin and it would eat ammunition that the Mauser would have difficulty with it was made to use corrosive ammo in perpetuity with little or no maintenance in between I'm not sure the Soviets or the Imperial Russian military before it actually had an intended or planned expiration date on these rifles or derivatives or counterparts or even their successors. But of things made to last they certainly seem to have been intended to be made to last and then my reading would indicate that there was no plan for the afterwards once the weapon was inoperable or Beyond operation it was simply discarded melted down or thrown away whichever fate of disposal seems to have been the case my cousin in Finland recently discovered with his friends when they were hiking one day I left over Mosin Nagant from the winter war with the Soviets they did a little tinkering 3 months of careful restoration and it's operable and in good firing working condition now which I don't know if the Mauser would have been the same.

How about you make a video where you shoot a machine pistol if possible? Edit: I honestly expected a better stopping power, that they would go trough more watermelons

That non turned down bolt handle surely affected the reload time on the first test right? NO not if it were a ww2 period sloppy bolt every shot would add a few secs trying to open the bastard. Needed to add the year each were made. Really expected them to go through more melons than that! The Mosin really showed the higher muzzle velocity on that first melon, man it mashed it! And what's your gong made out of ? Part of a church bell or someshit? Man that thing was ringing. Love it.

The Kar 98k is the preferred rifle over the Mosin Nagant for several reasons, shorter and handier, one-piece bolt simplicity, turned-down bolt, and ergonomic superiority. Yet the Mosin Nagant proved its battle worthiness. Its accuracy made it a popular sniper rifle that took down thousands of German and Axis-allied soldiers. It proved just as rugged. Still, given a choice, most knowledgeable shooters would choose the Kar 98k. The Russian 7.62 x 54mm cartridge was slightly less powerful than the American 7.62 x 64mm cartridge (.30 x 06) but that was academic as the Russian round was a perfectly long range cartridge, lending credence to the criticism the American round had always been unnecessarily large to begin with. In fact the U.S. Army adopted the 7.62 x 51mm round after WW2 and made it NATO standard for decades. The 7.62 x 51mm offered excellent power and range, which proved after all the .30 x 06 was unnecessarily a long cartridge. Wildcatters would even demonstrate a 7.62 x 45mm shortened version of the venerable .30 x 06 was a capable cartridge.

The main benefit the mosin has over the mauser is that both the ammo and gun are dirt cheap by comparison.

Tbh the accuracy of these guns should be very comparable. A bench test shooting position and comparing groupings would be better then free hand shots

The weakness of the Mosin Nagant is its horizontal bolt which makes it difficult for the user to maneuver with the rifle.
