To be fair the 8mm clip he used in this video was exceptionally tight and the 7.62x54r clip was exceptionally slick. I've used quite a few 8mm clips & 54r clips, they do vary but in general the 8mm clips are a lot slicker/load easier than 54r. (Btw I'm referring to actual Russian surplus clips from Izhevsk. Looks like the muzzle device on SVT helps it stay on target. I'd definitely give it a point for that, that's pretty innovative for the time, for a standard issue rifle. G43 seems to be significantly shorter. Which would seem like a pretty big plus, imo. Ultimately it's kind of semantics, though. Both these rifles performed pretty identically. What it comes down to is personal preference of the user. Quite frankly, as an inexperienced shooter, I think I would like the SVT better because the action is actually encased inside the weapon, as opposed to the G43 where you can literally see it flying back at your face at 500mph.

I just got a 1941 dated SVT-40. If you had a early war muzzle brake on your SVT then you would of shot it even faster. The late war one you have is not as affective at controlling muzzle flip. The upside of the late war brake is that makes the rifle much quieter. You have to double up your earpro with the early brake and anyone near you should give you a wide birth.

The winner is SVT-40, because there is less recoil due to the long base of the forearm and, accordingly, better weight distribution. Due to the fact that the SVT-40 handguard is longer than the Gewher 43 handguard, the SVT-40's center of gravity is farther than the shooter's hands, towards the muzzle (recoil is simply harder to throw the barrel up and push the shooter with the rifle butt: 1:36 vs 1:50 ). For these two reasons, continuous fire is much easier from the SVT-40, which is important when conducting accurate barrage fire. With all this, the SVT-40 is much more technologically advanced for its time and more reliable and easy to use.
