One of the most iconic pieces of FFVII. Such a beautiful piece whether it be full orchestra or on piano. Great job Kara.

I love your interpretation of this song. Aerith's Theme draws its beauty from simple elegance, which you bring out perfectly. You've given each part its due care and accentuation, but it never gets overbearingly dramatic or sentimental. The sadness and hopefulness in this piece comes from its unforced flow, just like how Aerith and her decisions were in FF VII.

My favorite part about this video was 2:20 Subtle differences in a musician's timing can add such a nice effect to an already beautiful piece. Nice hemiola :)

Ah yes, the three over two! (Or two over three) I just yesterday had someone ask how I played this part and if I could give him tips haha. I think after being a musician for so long, you develop a natural skill for being able to hear and play both hands musically separate. I'm really glad you appreciated this part!! :)

I recently downloaded the original FF VII and replayed it (100 hours of game play). First time I had played it since 1997 and wanted to remember why it has stuck with me for so long. The story still holds up, the characters are great and you quickly forget about the bad polygon graphics and get immersed. But what really did it for me is reliving the music. The music is the separator. It perfectly binds you to the characters and the narrative. It's a masterpiece. And now I can't stop watching all your renditions. Thank you for doing this so we can relive it so easily. I look forward to your renditions of whatever original music comes out of the remake. You're amazing.

The Final Fantasy series is far superior to many of fiction and adventure novels out there, especially FF7 and FF8. They formed my personality, my taste in music, my living inspiration.
@1lapmagic6 жыл бұрын
If you think this you honestly haven't really read any good books. This game was emotionally memorable and life impacting, but the stories of video games are pretty much garbage compared to good novels. There aren't any video game stories that compete with the stories of good novels. The depth isn't there.
@henrymanahan27645 жыл бұрын
@@1lapmagic Lord of the Rings for example off the top of my head. So many works of fiction exploring the human condition written by incredible people
@RicoLen15 жыл бұрын
@@1lapmagic "There aren't any video game stories that compete with the stories of good novels." Go play the Mass Effect trilogy. Frodo & friends, Jon Snow and company, the House of Rahl, Rand Al'Thor and his kind, none of them have the depth of character as the crew of the Normandy and the story is better too, plus there's music and video. It won't be very long until all the good games are better than books. Final Fantasy 7 tells a very in-depth story (wait until the remake comes out in March of 2020) that only a good book can match, and the best of games like the Mass Effect Trilogy or even a single game like Red Dead Redemption 2 can and do surpass what a book can do. kzbin.info/www/bejne/o2K5qqt7o5ekpsU
@1lapmagic5 жыл бұрын
@@RicoLen1 hahaha..this opinion is bad enough without the fact that you reference only fantasy literature to make your point
@RicoLen15 жыл бұрын
@@1lapmagic I do that because fantasy and other high fiction is just about all video games currently cover. That however doesn't nor shouldn't deter from the point I'm making, which is that books are literally written inside of video games that bring them to life on a more visceral level all while spending dozens of hours fleshing out character detail and plot and motives as well as any book. It's really not up to a matter of opinion, it's fact, and there's no reason to prejudicially laugh it off. These points are objectively provable and a trilogy like Mass Effect does so brilliantly. I've no doubt in my mind that in future generations the 'great American novel' will be published first as a video game and offer the definitive experience, especially as the more close-minded among us today age out of the system of both media consumers and producers. Music, such as what Kara is playing already proves the point, seeing as how this is a video game soundtrack and is better than 90% of the music written in the last 30 years. There is absolutely nothing stopping the exact same thing happening with storytelling and character development as well.

Yay! Thumbs up! One of the more powerful pieces from FFVII. That game always felt very unique to me in the themes used that I haven't been able to really put my finger on. Bittersweet themes like this, themes of horror (Trail of Blood), of anxiety and emotional trauma. The main theme of FF7 feels like it perfectly illustrated the journey that Cloud takes mentally from beginning to end. Amazing though how beautifully music like this can be transformed when going from PS1 quality to a piano like this, or to fully orchestrated arrangements.

WOW Jake thank you so much for what you wrote! I love to hear people's experiences of playing the games, because I never had the privilege of playing most of them myself. My brother was telling me last night about how, rather than playing yourself as the main character like in FFXIV, you play another character, and get into that character's feelings and desires and emotions. It's a whole different experience! And I agree, the recording abilities these days gives us so much more, to love and appreciate about these brilliant themes!
