I told ya I'd get it out in two weeks! This is my feeble attempt to cosplay Marle, but I think by the time I got a good take, I was already sweating and a rumpled mess. It's been extremely hot here in New Hampshire and I couldn't have the air conditioner running!
UPDATE: I'm adding a paragraph to this post because a lot of you ask whether or not I have played this game. SERIOUSLY, I've probably played Chrono Trigger more than all of you COMBINED!
I thought to mix it up a bit with a different angle this time. I don't think it's better, just different. I'm working hard on getting together a full Chrono Trigger album for you on Spotify! I'll most likely record this once more over the weekend- just audio, so I can focus on perfection and not cameras and lights! In the meantime, please head over to my Spotify to listen to my Final Fantasy album just released! Link below.
Can't wait to see you all on my stream tomorrow! Don't forget to enter the giveaway on my Facebook page!

This is song is the only thing that carried me in my most depressing job. The amount of dread I would wake up to was only manageable getting ready with this song playing. Thanks for saving/keeping me alive.

Sorry! He was a sound engineer at Square and couldn't catch his break as a composer, so he gave Sakaguchi an ultimatum - either he gets to compose or he quits. Sakaguchi took a risk on the young sound engineer and as his very first game soundtrack he created what is still one of the most beloved to this day. It's all on his wiki if you want more detail.

Imagine writing this music for a 16bit machine. These composers deserve being mentioned alongside the greats of the 20th century, not because of the technological limitations under which they operated, but because of the monumental music they wrote. They changed my life. And what a performer, thank you.

This is one of my favorite games. Not just because of the quality itself, but back in 95-96, I was in the fourth grade I remember one of the reasons I looked forward to the end of the school day was so I could hurry home and watch my mom play. Not that I didn't play it myself but it was something I enjoyed watching her do. I remember growing up with her playing this, the Final Fantasies, Breath of Fire, Lufia 1 and 2, and of course Zelda. It was also the beginning of my appreciation for music. Also this is my first time seeing one of your videos. I didn't know you were going for Marle until I read the description. I thought you were just going for elegance. You're certainly talented and I look forward to hearing more.

There were some other notable video games during this era, such as Secret of Mana (SNES), Shining Force (Sega Genesis), Shining Force 2 (Sega Genesis), and Sword of Vermillion (Sega Genesis). I remember paying for SF2 $84.00 in the 1990s at a Game Stop in the mall (wiping out all of my savings-I was in middle school), not telling my parents, but…that game was so AWESOME!

There is something to be said about the swings of melancholy and sweeping nostalgia from this arrangement. Can you feel it if you've never been there before? I think so. It's almost a noir piece and I find it funny how native it sounds on the piano, but what better way to make it all the more endearing . Thanks for taking us back to the forest one more time. xoxo

Zohars version is so pretty, stunningly like the woman playing. You put so much jazz into it yourself, like both of them would have, and crushed it very well in your own right. Gorgeous everytime I hear a rendition, whisked away to someplace so hard to reach. Ahh, childhood. 6/5.

The rhythms in this piece are so unusually difficult they don't even sound correct even played perfectly unless the appropriate dynamics are interlaced and you dance them gently into place. Watching and listening to you play is the closest thing I've witnessed to human perfection.

Kara, I found your channel a month ago and thought, man I gotta come back here and listen to her stuff. So I subscribed and I finally had time and space this weekend to listen to a majority of your recordings. These are just gems! Nobuo Uematsu plays such a huge role in my life because his music was the sole spark that inspired me to learn the piano some 15 years ago in my mid/late teens, even when everyone around me said, well it's too late to learn how to play something as complex as the piano and sound good at it. Something like Fisherman's Horizon especially captivated me back then. And to hear it and so many other songs all come back to life on your channel through your elegant and organic (REALLY) interpretations is priceless and feels like a soothing return home for me in a sense. I really hope Square-Enix's music team someday selects you to record a Final Fantasy Piano Collections album (I imagine there are so many more future albums to come lol... but the games are taking longer to develop with today's technology though). If you ever give a concert/recital down here in Boston, I'd totally come out to hear you live. Either way, I want a CD when it comes out... a signed one too! :)
