I have an aluminum cast karambit for training purposes and it's by far my favorite one, really light, comfortable, awesome. I'd love to have some full tang ones, but the folders can usually be better concealed. As for folders, I mostly like fox karambits as they come with the clip in the right direction, screwed from the ring side towards the blade. Most brands get that wrong and put it in the opposite way, removing the possibility of quick deploy. Also way too many brands get the grip on the opossite side (like tac force, cold steel, etc) and you end up having to hold the knife upwards so it doesn't hurt your hand.
@triv455511 ай бұрын
I wish I knew more about proper clip orientation before I got my foldable Karambits a few years back lol, their clips are on the wrong side AND upside-down 💀 I'll be getting a FOX 599 this week at least

This is much better than the other karambit video you have. You actually learned how to use it. The extension is for hooking limbs and joints at a slightly further range to bring in a cut.

I have quite a few Karambit knives, dont know all the different types though. My favorite one is the one I got from funker tactical. It has a multi tool set and a catch so that it automatically deploys when you pull it out of your pocket.

06:47 I have four different hawkbill-style knives for similar use, a small fixed CRKT Keramin, a medium sized Fox folding kerambit and a larger Cold Steel Talon 2. Depending on the training scenario, I'll practice with either one on my weak hand side. The fourth one is a Spyderco Tasman Salt for swimming in open water, in case I get entangled in plants or smth (one of the main risks for drowning in Dutch inland water).
@keithbeckett1349 Жыл бұрын
So you are practicing with the karambit in your weak hand? Howcome? I also had a similar thought as it essentially adds some worth and defence to your weak hand which otherwise wouldn't be as effective (as it doesn't exactly take much so swipe with a blade and do damage) whereas throwing a punch with a weak side vs your strong is a big difference

Certainly, I have been practicing martial arts since the age of 14 and am now a retired law enforcement officer at the age of 58. My martial arts background encompasses Korean, Chinese, and Japanese styles, with limited experience in knife usage beyond the Chinese spear, trident, and tai Chinese sword and, of course, the nunchuku. I found the video to be informative and have since acquired a Karambit, specifically the 1911 K tactical. Currently, I am practicing with a training karambit to enhance my skills.

CRKT Provoke. I carry a knife on most occasions as a last measure for defense. But I always thought it would be a high risk to deploy it and then switch to reverse grip for effective combat. At that level of adrenaline, it would be very likely to fail. Fumble, or maybe cutting my own hand. The provoke is already connected to my hand/finger when pulled, it can be used as a non lethal brass knuckle, and the deployment of the blade is just a flip of the thumb without loosening the grip too much. It operates so naturally, that it is perfectly safe. Also compact and easy to carry. It doesn’t even look like a knife in closed condition.That thing is an excellent piece of kit.

Well, at this time I don't know what my dream Karambit will be as I am new to this style of weapon. I am 64 turning 65 in January and I have studied Shotokan from a young age under some of the notable instructors. I have not been training for a few years due to opening a business but will be back in the dojo around Febuary. My daughter got me a Smith & Wesson Karambit a long with a practice blade. I will checkout your training and get myself up to speed on it. I the video I watched of yours and I have seen a lot of Martial Arts videos. Thanks! Terry

I do t have a practice one so I practice with the sheath but problem is that will affect its use in a love situation because it’s important to get the alignment correct as possible for not only effectiveness but for less drag and chance of it catching and twisting on your hand even if your grip is great it still adds forces you don’t want and affects the entire strike in bad ways.
